A question for those who post on boards other than DU....

has anyone ever tried to post on a board that doesn't seem to want anyone to post? i started posting on this one board, and when i first went there, it was basically dead. no one posted, like ever. everyone just LURKED all the time. so, i joined, i tried to bring it to life. i tried to get them into deep conversations about the band's music, not many were receptive to it. i felt like an idiot for opening myself up emotionally about the music, so i edited all of them and decided to see if joking around a lot would work.

it worked pretty well, almost everyone was posting regularly joking around and just chatting, occasionally getting into more serious conversations. so, i finally felt like i had done a good thing.

all of a sudden, i find there are people that want me to "stop posting" because i now have over 500 posts within 4 FRICKIN MONTHS. they think that's a lot!!!! 500 posts is weeny stuff over here, and all other boards i've ever been on. anyway, a few people from the board are asses to me all the time and the admin won't stop them, yet if i post something in return, it gets called a personal attack and gets deleted. i think it has a lot to do with the fact that i am a new fan, and they have been fans for years - maybe they aren't used to someone new just coming in and being themselves, not intimidated to post what's on their mind?

anyway, just wondering if anyone here has had anything like that happen. it's got me a bit upset only because i don't want the band to hate me - they have to deal with me being at 6 of their shows next month. :nopity:

1. VNV Nation fans

are like, one of the most pretentious group of... people... I've ever encountered. And they generally have the least reason to be so. Assuming you're talking about VNV.

that's who i'm talking about, which i find quite ironic, because VNV's music teaches the COMPLETE OPPOSITE.

they aren't all like that, just some of them. sometimes i wonder what the hell is wrong with some of them - there is really no reason to be so rude, especially to new fans. i wonder if the band knows about it, because i'm sure they wouldn't be happy if they saw it.

even if my posts annoyed them, at least i always have a sense of humor, and i'm sure they'd be happy about that because they have THE FUNNIEST sense of humor i've ever seen.
