Should someone have killed George Lucas off?
before he had the chance to inflict these tedious films on the world?

13. I have never seen any of the Star Wars movies
Big deal. Like you said, just don't go if you don't like the movies. Its simple really.

3. I don't think he is talking about the first three
I think he is talking about his recent disasters.

4. He has clearly turned to the dark side
I'm giving him one last chance to do his own story justice in ep 3, and then I'm marching up to the ranch with my light saber and bitch-slapping him with it.

5. Apparently -
this last one draws heavy comparisons between the evil imperialists and the Bush administration. Lines like "you are either with me or you are my enemy" - uttered by Skywalker before he turns into Darth Vader.

6. I'll forgive him if...
Yoda somehow reveals that the whole midi-chlorians shit from Episode 1 was just a practical joke he had been pulling for the last 700 yeas.

7. Wouldn't have helped a thing
Probably it would have been a lot worse; just remember what happened to Star Trek recently.

8. Here's why he's okay with me:
Lucas film strikes back at Bush

May 17, 2005

CANNES, France -- "Star Wars" director George Lucas is suggesting the latest movie in the series is aimed at the Bush administration.
Lucas celebrated the world premiere of the climactic ''Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith'' on Sunday at the Cannes Film Festival. At a news conference, he was asked if the movie Republic's collapse into an evil Empire was directed at the Bush administration.
Lucas said he originally wrote ''Star Wars'' in the wake of Vietnam and the Nixon administration and that he studied democracies that turned into dictatorships.

''As you go through history, I didn't think it would get quite this close,'' he said. ''I hope this doesn't come true in our own country. Maybe the film will awaken people to the situation, how dangerous it is.''

One line in the movie has drawn a lot of attention: "If you're not with me, then you're my enemy," Darth Vader says. The line echoes Bush's ultimatum after the Sept. 11 attacks, "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."

10. I'm cutting George (as mad as I am at him) some slack
Yeah, he made two pathetic pieces of garbage in the first two movies, and he committed the nearly unforgivable sin of desecrating Episodes 4 through 6, which clearly didn't need any "help". But from everything I've heard and seen, this next episode is not too bad, and the whole sexology (sextuplegy?) serves as a wholesale indictment of the neocons and actually provides for a good story overall.

George Lucas has incredible imagination and is an extremely well-read student of legend and mythology. He is a true visionary. These qualities almost compensate for the fact that he doesn't really know how to direct actors or write for film. The one time he left these tasks to others (The Empire Strikes Back), undeniable magic was produced.

12. Inflict?
So far as I know, not one of the Star Wars films is free. Every attendee has to pay, one way or another.
Its like air conditioning is a Rolls Royce. If you don't want air conditioning in a Rolls Royce, you don't turn it on.
