20 year high school reunion, ugh!
I can't believe it's been 20 yrs. Although I have no intention of going, it's weird to think of that era. It almost seems like a lifetime ago.

Thank goodness I don't have to relive that time again. I'm in a happier place now. :-)

1. My 20-year was last summer.
I went, I had a good time, it was fun. I saw who I wanted to see, and that was nice. More than half of my class of 700 was there, most with a guest. It was a huge gathering.

2. I went to one about 5 years ago and had a GREAT TIME!!!
PS - I had no interest in 80% of my class, and found 20% disgusting/disturbing..... I ended up hanging out with those I disliked more than those that were 'cool' to me during HS. We had great fun discussing our stupid differences over a bottle or two of wine.

Time changes everyone and everything.

Give it a shot!

4. The thought of spending time with people who shut me out because
I didn't have the right clothes, blonde hair, etc. disgusts me. Yes, time gratefully changes everyone, including myself. That still won't convince me to go. ;)

3. Mine is this summer and I'm not planning on going
I'm still in touch with some people. It just seems like a long way to go.

5. I happened to be in town
For my five-year reunion in 1996. And no, I don't know why my school has a tradition of five-year reunions. Anyway, I dropped in, noticed all the cliques were gone and replaced with two new ones - those with kids and those without, insulted a few people without trying to (I thought I was being funny), and left after an hour.

I don't ever plan on going back for another reunion. I didn't like my classmates, and they didn't like me. Before the five-year one, I did think about sending a cardboard cut-out of myself once with pre-recorded messages like, "God, you got fat," or, "Yeah, it definitely sounds like high school were the best years of your life, huh, Sparky?" but didn't. :)

6. Class of 85!!
Woo!!

Anyways, I talked to a friend who went to our 10 year, and he said it was like walking back into high school. All the same cliques, all the same BS. The only difference is that everyone was 10-15 pounds heavier and some had some money that didn't belong to their parents. And no one was wearing Vans.

I don't plan on going to mine.

7. Yep, '85. Do you remember the "Frankie says" t-shirts?
Vans, were those the shoes all the guys wore?

9. I remember on the front...
it said "Frankie Says", and on the back it said "relax."

I had one, and when my dad found out about the group and what the song meant he flat out asked me if I was a, and I quote, "a peter puffer."

We still laugh about that one.

10. I'm going to my 40th
at the end of this month.

I went to the 10th and this will be the first once since then.

Actually, I went to a 35th four years ago. I actually graduated from high school a year early -- I pioneered the 3-year plan at my school. My original graduating class had never bothered to contact me about a reunion, but did for the 35th, and I went and had lots of fun. So I'm looking forward to this one.

The more time goes by, the less the high school experience itself really matters, I've noticed.
