We have two cats

1. If I see a spider or other type of small creature in my sink
I'll make efforts to rescue it AND dry it off by dabbing it with some toilet paper. Off ya go little guy.

Of course, if they're in the toilet itself then I'll usually just end the struggle with a mighty stream of piss.

5. So where insects are concerned, you are a moderate?
I also rescue most bugs. My daughter whomps 'em with her racket-ball equipment. Does that make her libertarian or independent?

I dunno, I used to be a typical boy, magnifying glass lasering potato bugs until they exploded and all that stuff.

These days I try to help everything in distress.

10. At 32, I doubt youth is the culprit for her.
She is kind to animals and kids, old people and even most fools. But show her a flying insect and look out for her backhand! To be fair, she does live where there are a lot of really dangerous bugs.

2. I hug trees. Can't keep my hands off 'em.
Love wading through dog whiz so I can rub my face against scratchy, bug infested tree bark! Enjoy sticky sap in my ears. Thrill at ants going up my nose. Tree hugging, yeah, that's it.

Oh, and yoga. Keeps me limber for all the tree hugging.

13. I'm a tree fanatic
Almost obsessed with them and I don't feel any need to apologize for it. Cutting down a tree unnecessarily put me into a rage. I raise them from seed and belong to too many garden and tree related societies to even begin to count.

3. I don't know it they're stereotypical:
I recycle. Everything.

I take public transportation.

I also drink fair trade coffee (the coffeeshop across the street from me sells it)

And I buy a lot of my books from Left of Center bookstore, a great liberal bookstore also across the street (and conveniently right next to the Metropolis Coffee Shop, said coffeeshop where I buy my coffee(

Membership in a socialistic party (OK; a socialist platform inside a social democratic party - which in turn happens to have socialism on its agenda). Does that count?

And yeah; organic meat; sometimes. Oh, I do own a pair of Birkenstock's. And I drink Cafe Latte.

12. This one's easy.
I have a cat. Li-li.

I have a dog. An indoor dog. A pretty indoor dog.. an Akita named "Jacob Japonica Roux," named after the pound in New Orleans where we got him.

Oh yeah.. I have gay sex.

I'm monogamous. Have been for 9 years. Compare & contrast with the sex lives of those on the Right constantly nattering on & on about deviant sex.

I'm well-educated.

I am somewhat of a grammar nitpick. (And now that I've revealed this, I'll have an error in this post spotted by someone else, lol..)

I'm a serious momma's boy. (But I'm a daddy's boy too.)

I listen to NPR at least five days a week. And when I'm not listening to NPR, I'm listening to Air America Radio.

I live in Austin, but aspire to move to a more, err, "purple" state.

I haven't been to church services in years.

I recycle.

I refrain from having sex with family members. Again, compare and contrast.. :p

I love to make bad jokes that cast Red America in a poor light.

And I'm a smartass.

That's a pretty good start.

22. Sounds a lot like me
When I have it I'll partake now and then, but if the season is dry I'm not gonna cry or freak out - I think the government should stay out of our bedrooms (although the Republicans need to start staying out of the local mule pen). Unions are good.

But there's a catch.

I try to be nice at first, but if it turns out that someone's a complete idiot I'll go Darth Vader on their ass, and sometimes wish I could pinch my fingers and have someone choking at their computers :D

If people think I'm bad now, they should've met me about 7 yrs ago, before I found :smoke:

I thrived on conflict, and would verbally shit on anyone I considered inferior. I swear that continued :smoke: changed the chemical balance in my brain, because the pre-:smoke: me hated just about everyone.

Maybe that's why it's illegal. There's no profit in not wanting to fight everyone.

I won't watch Fox News. I don't go to church (although I am a Christian, I just feel the church is a money-making business sham). I have Michael Moore books on my coffee table. I don't have a photo of the current "President" displayed anywhere in my house. I do have several photos of Bill and Hillary Clinton framed on my wall, though. I drink at Starbucks. I listen to Air America. If I think of any others, I will edit.

29. I love your "blue" comment.
At my last sad little Election Night party, I requested that everyone wear blue - and demanded that no one wear red.

I put-up strings of blue lights in my living room.

Blue napkins, paper plates, shot glasses, & cups were provided.

I bought 20 blue pillar/jar candles and put swing states' names on them. (*sniff*)

And whenever someone asks me what my favorite color is, I answer, "Electoral Blue." Either they get it or they don't. :D

long crazy silver hair and John Lennon spectacles.

practice Buddhism and am very serious about self-reflection and improvement, and supportive compassion towards others. In contrast with RW ideologues, I frequently question myself and whether I am living up to those ideals. Maybe a little too hard, sometimes.

wear political buttons or t-shirts (well, I decided maybe it would be best to not do so at work, that was hard to do but I thought maybe its best to speak up if someone else gets pushy first. Don't antagonize and all that "good professional behavior" crap.)

refer to stupid or heirarchy enforcing authoritarian rules as "crap".

try to not buy too much crap, except at the bookstore.

use the word "crap" alot

Speak out LOUDLY against sexism anytime I see it.

Donate to DU and Planned Parenthood.

Write LTTE's sometimes.

Try to break stereotypically feminine behavior expectations, like speaking assertively, not acting deferential, not being afraid to be really goofy. I refuse to act ladylike!!! BooYah!

bring things up in conversation if it fits --like explaining why people should boycott Walmart if I can sneak it into a conversation.

Boycott Walmart's and try to get my gas at Citgo.

Deisel car with overpopulation related bumperstickers and a "Dare! To Think For Yourself" sticker.

eclectic tastes in books and music

Two rescued kitties, two doggies (non-chain store pet shop. Sorry not rescues, we tried but it was Pugsley and Weenie we fell in love with)
