My OB visit this week...*hormonal rant*
Well I had my 24 week checkup at my OB this week and I'm quite upset about this..

With my son I started out my pregnancy at 110 and went up to 140 when I delivered a month early (36 weeks @ 5lb 12oz)

With my daughter I started out at 110 and ended up at 145 (shes another 36 weeker 5lb 6oz). Came out of the hospital with both of them wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes.

This pregnancy however, I started out at 110 and I'm only 6 months along and I'm up to 140. Of course, I've been eating like mad for some odd reason and I'm constantly tired so I dont do my usual walking.

The nurse in the office who takes my vitals, gives me bloodwork papers, etc, told me I need to stop gaining so much weight and to stop eating so much or I'm going to have a difficult delivery. They generally recommend gaining 25 lbs for the whole pregnancy, not 6 months into it.

I just honestly think this is going to be a bigger baby than my last two as my husband was born 10 lbs. I also didnt have this type of appetite with my other two and now I'm scared that I'm 1.) going to have a hard delivery because of my weight, and 2.) I wont lose it.

Asked my aunt if I look like I gained 30 lbs and she said ya your ass is getting big. I was like OMG (shes honest so thats why I asked her).

On the bright side, he gave me zithromax for my bronchitis I've been fighting for over a month! YAYYAYAYAYYAY. I know this stuff works.

1. I was never told
that weight would make my deliveries harder. I gained 50 pounds with both of mine. It did take a while to work it off but my deliveries were probably easier than just about everyone here. We are all different but that sounds odd, never heard that before.

2. Ugh....
I started at 125 and gained almost 60 lbs with my daughter, and lost it again... it sounds like you do fine at getting back to your baseline weight between your pregnancies. You should watch the weight for other reasons (diabetes, blood pressure) but I doubt the 'more difficult delivery' unless you're so overweight you can move around well or have those other types of issues crop up. I have a lot to say against the current methods many OBs practice in the US, so I'll stop there. You may want to consider getting checked for GD, though, if you haven't, and if you're still that tired once the bronchitis resolves. Best wishes to you and the kiddo!

3. Have you heard of pregnant yoga?
It's supposed to strengthen your abdominal muscles and help with the weight gain. I'd look into it because it is no impact and it will make you feel better.
And I know people who gained a ton of weight during their pregnancies and it didn't matter. I've never heard that either from any one. Of course you have those doctors who are obsessed with women not eating when they're pregnant. The bigger the hips while pregnant the easier a time you have, from what I understand.
A friend of ours was like 95 pounds and went up to 110 by the time she had her baby, and she had the most difficult of labors. It's all a crapshoot. Quit worrying and eat what you think you need to eat.
And as for worrying about losing that pregnancy weight, I hear that if you breast feed it does wonderful things for your metabolism. How do you thnk Kelly Ripa got so skinny? She swears it's because she breastfed all of her kids. (just an example.)
Good luck to you and I hope you have a very healthy baby!
