1. I have mixed feelings about it
Edited on Sat May-14-05 12:17 AM by sundog
I hate the ending... but it is definitely one of Bertolucci's better flicks...

I love the opening credits & Maria Schneider is beautiful

Brando irritates me in it...

and btw The Dreamers *really* sucked exempting Michael Pitt's nudity ;)

3. Oh I agree...
Edited on Sat May-14-05 12:24 AM by Placebo
but I thought Theo was cuter. ;)

Something about him...I dunno...and he was clearly coming onto Matthew at the end (he was practically ready to dry hump him silly! :o)...and it was oh so nice to see him showering and changing and walking around in just a short little blazer...

Yes Theo! Disrespect me in French! I am a stupid American! Yes! I love your snobby commie ways you incestuous French manwhore! :P

Back to LTIP, I love the opening credits too, Francis Bacon is great.

5. that's where my anger at this movie begins
Edited on Sat May-14-05 12:28 AM by sundog
yes, Theo is cuter, I concur  ...

however...

that movie cowardly steps around all the hemoerotic subtext... there is clearly a pronounced relationship between those two... that is one of the major causes of the conflicts between the three...

plus all the movie dares are discarded half way through the movie, so ultimately they serve no thematic relevance

7. Yes I agree. . .
Edited on Sat May-14-05 12:31 AM by Placebo
But in a movie where the buzz on the street is 'Eva Green is f'n hot and naked!' you wouldn't want to sully that good hetero fun with any bad PR related to evil commie french homo shenanigans.

I agree with you about all the dares going pretty much nowhere, the entire film basically goes nowhere, and even ends strangely.

3/5 stars :)

I think I'll go watch 'Bad Education' again. :)

13. yes it was
I have to say though...
I liked the last two Almodovar movies a little better. Maybe it was that I saw those in the theater. I have to ponder this more.

14. I love his take on noir
Edited on Sat May-14-05 12:54 AM by sundog
No, I don't think it comes close the emotional resonance of "Talk to Her" (probably that his his best work so far)...

BE was simply my personal fave since "Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down." :)

24. Even the music is so Hitchcock!
oooooooh how I love the music, at first I thought it was a bit too tense and dramatic for the movie, but by the end it really fit.

20. I'm just doing my usual
Hanging out in the lounge, drinking brewskis and eating pizza. I wish I had a trick right about now, but I'm too drunk and broke to dial the escort service.
