20. I was introduced to a cult leader once.

My friend knew him, but wasn't in the cult. He had a bunch of people in their mid-to-late teens, like runaways, living in his house, and he was like in his early-to-mid twenties. It wasn't a very strict cult, really...almost more of a secret society. He called himself "Rogue" and had these writings of his which described "Roguery".

When I came to his house with my friend, he was on the phone going "you don't need to know who else is here! That's unnecessary information!" Later he was talking to me, just normal sitting on a mattress on the floor or something, but he had his foot on some guy's head the whole time who was sitting down, and was pushing it around sort of gently. He did this with all the concentration that someone would give to fiddling with a keychain or doing one side of a Rubik's Cube while they are speaking with you.

Back then I was involved in video work, and that's what we were discussing. He wasn't using any manipulative cult tactics or weird speaking with me, maybe because he figured he better keep his contact with me practical or something.

I guess Rogue is pretty normal now too, but I don't think I saw him after that. It's kind-of funny that that would happen. Plus I later found out the "unneccesary information" was about some guy who would call to see if there were enough people there to hang out and party with.
