Julie Krone!
Edited on Sat Oct-25-03 01:06 PM by jumptheshadow
She's the first female jockey to win a Breeders' Cup race as the 42-year-old pilots Halfbridled in the Juvenile Fillies.

Krone was the first woman to win a Triple Crown race as well.

On edit: Krone and Halfbridled take a curtain call and are cheered by fans as Krone keeps on pointing to that beautiful, talented filly.

Krone came back from retirement. She had gone into a funk after some bad injuries, got out of racing for a while, but has reaffirmed her Hall of Fame standing ever since her return.

I don't quite understand you.

On edit: It's Breeders Cup Day, she just won and this is a historic occasion for female athletes.

I'm at work, didn't realize the race just took place and that she just won...I read it like a "random" thing...
Now that I know, I say good for Julie, bad for Funnycide...those of us in upstate NY like Funnycide a lot!
I also thought she retired after she got hurt and then married...I guess I'm out of it...I really only do Saratoga horse racing....
edited really bad typo!

4. Funny Cide
Julie is riding Funny Cide in the Classic. He's a long shot but had a brilliant work. I don't think he'll do it today but I love the guy and will be rooting for him. (He happens to be my screensaver.)

7. Ha!

Let's just put it this way: I can relate to Cat Woman's post.

Enough said.

On edit: It says a lot about this sport that most people don't know this is one of its two biggest days. As you can see, even sports fans and Saratoga fans don't realize it's Breeders' Cup Day.

9. Well...with the World Series, the NFL
running full stride it's kind of tough to stay up on the great sport of Horse Racing... Throw in the Hockey and the Basketball pre-season and it's makes it even tougher...
