What HEAVY METAL band should I listen to now?

Inspired by a few posts here and my generally angry mood, I decided I was gonna listen to one heavy metal band before I go out and catch the northern lights tonight. So, which one do you think I should listen to?

That song sucks. Liking that song is totally the sign of a newbie to metal, or a total poseur. Unless you're talking the original pre-Sabbath Ozzy version of it, which ROCKS! But only the hip cool people know that version. I assume you're talking about the later, 1980s hair-band version of it, the name of whcih I won't say becuase it's such an abomination.

23. My first exposure was "Sober"

and I've heard tons fo stuff from them since, many many friends love Tool. Can't really tell you what the names are off the top of my head.. do they have a CD called Aenima or something like that??

I DID get to see them live once, and that was one of the best shows I've seen, even though I didn't know but a few of the tunes

28. YES...they do.

I love that album. But I gotta say Undertow and Lateralus are their best albums (Aenima is solidly in third). If anything, I seriously recommend picking up either of the two. Lateralus is just mind-blowing. The CD just flows like none other. And, "Sober" (which is my fave song by them btw) is off Undertow. A few other of my favorites ("Undertow" and "Flood") are also off that album.

I'm happy when the rightwing idiots get tombstoned, but when it's just a regular Joe who doesn't even realize his idiotness, well, then I feel bad, and I like to keep 'em around. Because a lot of the time, they'll actually learn. At least, i like to think people can learn new ways, and be taught. Freepers can't, of course, but I don't think he was a freeper, and I think we might actually have been able to help him out a lot.

I mean, who of us here wasn't, at one point, so opinionated that we had a hard time differentiating between the truth we saw out of our anger with real truth, and wouldn't accept the compassionate judgment of our peers?
