Unf....ing believable....my experience with Microsoft India
Let me start off by saying I like the people from India and I love their food(my favorite). However, my experience in trying to get technical help from Microsoft India was a freaking joke.

I was on the phone for over an hour(thank god I didn't have to pay for it) trying to get some advice on a windows update problem I am having. The person I was speaking to didn't even know how to do an update from MSN home page. I had to walk her through the steps on how to do an update and then which icons to press to have it scan a computer.......this person was suppose to be helping me!!!!!!!

After an hour of f....... around, she wanted me to log into Microsoft India to get an update from their site.....I said no thanks and asked her to connect me to her supervisor. After waiting another 20 minutes for the supervisor, she came back on and said her supervisor was busy and asked if she could continue to try and help me. Again, I said no thanks and told her I would call back at a later time.

Folks, out-sourcing technical help to India isn't working, it's a joke. My butt is sore from sitting so long and going to go have a beer.

Sorry for my rant, but I was about ready to pull my hair out!!!!!

1. I know how you feel...
I had a problem also...except I had to call Gateway for a problem I was having...

So I call their tech-support number and after holding for about 20 minutes I finally got someone on the phone.
First of all...I couldn't understand a thing he was saying...I had to ask him several times to repeat what he was saying.
Second...he didn't know how to help me with my problem and referred me to the internet...he said "Go to the internet, like a pc help forum"...that's when I said forget it...

I fired off a nice letter to Gateway telling them of my expierence. I told them that if this is what to be expected when a customer calls for help...then forget it...I will not be buying another Gateway product again...

I have yet to get a response...

7. I could barely understand anything this person was saying....
She was very pleasant and I was very pleasant, however when you can't understand them and they don't know anything about how to fix the problem, it's a complete joke. However, I guess Microsoft is satisfied since they only have to pay them four or five hundred a month for incompetent help.

3. I get tele-marketers from India all the time.
I'm nice to them. I ask where they are from in India and tell them they speak english well. I ask them what time it is there. Then I hang up.

What is it with all these "call centers" being based in India?

the entire engineering and service industries are being outsourced to other countries?
We are getting to the point where we can design and make NOTHING?

8. Why are you dissing my friend "Judy"???
I have had many late night chats with "Judy" and her coworker "Andy".. They have always been able to convince me that I should just turn it off, unplug it and go to bed ...like a normal person..

I am sure that they are worth every bit of the $7 an hour they are paid, and no I don't regret paying extra for that "extended waranty" ...I was just doing my part to help the economy.. (of India):eyes:

9. Isn't Corporate America great?
Given that MS lost 8% of its stock value, I'm considering doing Linux certification instead.

I hate times like these, I'd probably end up studying for one cert and by then it's freakin' pointless. x(

11. It used to be Ireland
But the call center situationin the banking industry is the same. I got cold called last night about a mutual fund family that we are considering adding to a list of value added services to clients.

The lady told me she was in India, and I asked her some very basic fund questions, she finally told me her job is not to answer questions but arrange for appointments.
