Would you say this is true fascism, or just big brother run amok?

Bear with me, I have to give you the whole scene. This is also a rant.

About half a block away from a signal light and near my daughter's school was an IL state police car blocking the left lane. Traffic was backed up because this officer was doing a seat belt check. She was the only officer there. One driver, who wanted to turn left at the signal light, went to the left of the police car (drove on the median) and started to get in the left turn lane. This officer ran over to this car, stopped them, and then OPENED the PASSENGER door to yell at the driver. I could not believe what I was witnessing!! To my knowledge there is no law that says you cannot drive on the median to get into a left turn lane (it was only about 20 feet), nor is there a law that allows police to open your car doors unless you're under arrest and they have probable cause to search the car.

I know America is no longer a free country, but now we don't have any privacy in our cars!!! What's next, police doing home invasions?!?

Sorry for the long rant, but this really upsets me.

if you want to talk about them being fascists why not talk about the National ID bill that will have all your medical and credit history all bound together in a nifty homing device that can be picked up by a gun a half mile away.

Or heck what about the New Freedom Commission that will make it mandatory for all public school children to be tested for mental illness.

Guess what, parental consent was voted OUT of the law by 312 to 81. If your child is deemed mentally ill then you could be brought up on charges of parental neglect if you don't fill their perscription. Want a second opinion? Well fuck you, parents don't have any rights now.

Now that is fascism! It is already happening here.

4. What kind of median?

It could very well be that you aren't supposed to be driving on the median. As for opening the door, probable cause is exactly what the officer decides it is - if they decide you are in violation of anything, bingo. There's your probable cause.

We haven't had privacy in our cars for a long time. Driving is a privilege, not a right whether you like it or not, and cops can stop you for just about any reason. Really, about the dumbest thing you can do is argue with a cop. It gets you nowhere.
