Poll question: What should I bake?
It's a blustery, windy, dark gray day, and the rain is really coming down. It's a perfect day to bake.

What should I make?

1. i voted cookies
because i know how delectable they are! :9

2. I voted for bread...
While I'm normally a big fan of sweets...if I were you I'd make a loaf of homemade bread and then some soup to go with it for lunch. :)

9. Strong seconding for bread
There's something about baking bread which fills the kitchen - and even the whole house - with a marvellous homely warmth.

5. I voted for cookies too...
even though several of your choices would be yummy, I'm sure! Cookies are pretty easy, and taste oh-so good warm, with milk. What kind are you making? I like semi-sweet chocolate chip and snickerdoodles. If you are making those anytime soon, will you save me one?

15. I'm going with bread
There is nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread. We have a wonder bread factory here in town, driving past in the morning is heaven.

16. I think I'll go with bread - and some cookies.
I wish I could make one of everything, but the homemade bread and soup sounds REALLY good!

And some cookies for the kids, probably oatmeal or chocolate chip.

17. Chocolate Caramel bars (recipe inside)
One box german chocolate cake mix (Duncan Hines does not work for this, Pillsbury or generic brands are recommended)
1 package Kraft Caramels
1 package of chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided
1 stick margerine, melted

Pre-heat oven to 350. Grease (or spray with PAM) a 9x13 inch baking pan.

combine margerine, cake mix, walnuts and 1/3 cup of evaporated milk. Press half the mixture in pan and back for 6 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt caramels (unwrap each first) into the rest of the evaporated milk.

Remove pan from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips evenly on top. Add the caramel mixture. Sprinkle the rest of the cake mixture over the top and bake for another 15-20 minutes.

Cool, and eat.

These are really good. Most people hate making them because unwrapping the caramels is a pain. If you have children, it's a good task for them.
