Poll question: do you use protection?
i was just going off on a rant about peopLe who don't use protection; fine if you don't care about your own Life/weLL being, but you're endangering huge swaths of the popuLation with your reckLess behavior.

i was raised in a LiberaL utopia (cambridge) where sex ed started earLy and did indeed get more graphic as you aged, but the one thing i took from it (and stiLL cLing to now) is to aLways wear a condom.

i'm amazed at the amount of peopLe i've met (that didn't go through the same system as i) that have free sex, and don't use protection. fucking idiots!! aLL of them!

if you're gonna tag it, bag it.

3. Yeah, I'm always amazed too.
Not coincidentally, I was also raised in Massachusetts. To you and I, it's a no brainer - there's no good fucking point in NOT putting on a condom. It isn't worth it. Yet to so many others, they simply don't see the danger in it.

I guess the "People's Republic of Kennedy" really tainted us, huh? :eyes:

4. Great post, sniffa.
Some unfortunate deluded guys in the gay community seem to think that AIDS is over...and it's barebacking time! But AIDS is most definitely NOT over. There's a new upsurge in the number of HIV+ gay men in the past few years...precisely because of foolish, reckless behavior such as you described. I hate seeing gay men becoming sick (and possibly dying) because of guys who think everything is hunky dory and will not use condoms. That attitude is reckless and irresponsible to the extreme.

So I dont have a need. IF I ever found out or had the slightest idea that my husband was cheating, you bet I would make him wrap it. I dont see that ever happening but thats a time I would.

If I were to get divorced, you bet if I ever found another man, I would make him put one on.

..I hit the very tail end of the sexual revolution before AIDS was a problem (I hate to say it, by the time I hit college we started to hear about the 'Gay Disease' but figured we were fine cause we were straight - what did we know??!!). Don't worry, I was on BCP.

HOwever, that was ages ago. I was first tested about 10 years ago and I was clean. Never went back that way again!

I think it saved a lot of lives in my generation.

I came of age soon after AIDS arrived, and the idea of going without protection never, ever, ever came up.

It's still the only birth control I use, and has been 100% effective. No side effects, either.

Well, back when I was having sex, I almost always used protection. I say almost because as you know, I'm a mother--an unwed mother.

These days, I find that an aspirin is useful protection against STDs and very sound birth control. No--I don't injest the aspirin, I hold it between my knees.

Have a relative whose family has had vasectomy and hysterectomy. If they split up or dabbled elsewhere they'd need condoms. BUmmer but so is HIV, other STDs

But a condom is better than nothing. So is getting to know your partner well enough to talk about things like STDs before you have sex. My daddy once told me that if you don't know someone well enough to talk about birth control and STDs you don't know them well enough to have sex with them. Smart guy.

Still, people should be more aware that there are STILL risks even when using a condom. I don't think many people get that.

Also, most people infected with some of these diseases don't even know it. Now *that* is scary.

It was in elementary school, so it was before AIDS but we were told how effective various methods were at preventing pregnancy by percentage.

62. what's not to understand?
You can't live your life worrying about whether or not your partner is cheating on you. Life doesn't come with guarantees. The majority of married male partners cheat. A significant number of married female partners cheat. Nonetheless, if you want peace in the home, you can't be telling your spouse to wrap it -- it is an accusation and could be an unfair one.

58. In my town, it seems like half the girls under 25 have kids
It's sad. It's really sad how insanely stupid they are.

I had a friend, who got pregnant and she I thought would become reasonable. But like two or three years after having her baby boy, she had a "boyfriend"(I use that term really lightly because they were only kind of going out and then I think broke up right after this) and she has unprotected sex. I wanted to smack her and ask her what the fuck was wrong with her. The scary is too, she was about 21 and he, I think, was 28. So he really should have known better then that.

I will never get over how stupid people are. It's astonishing.

59. no and older people often really can't you know
Edited on Mon May-09-05 12:01 PM by amazona
People who are married/committed can't use rubbers because it's about "trust" and no fair pointing out the statistics that show that at least half (and probably way more) are not in the monogamous relationship they think they are. There are also health reasons why some don't wear rubbers, such as depression medication or chronic pain already makes it difficult enough for the man to ejaculate -- if he wears a rubber, it isn't ever going to happen in certain situations. It is good that young people use rubbers, and they have more life ahead of them to lose if they do get ill, but I don't think it is worth being judgemental about older people who don't. The real world just isn't like that. A whore can insist that a john use a rubber or take it elsewhere. A wife can't do that.

P.S. What happened to "no sex threads?" and "the fun's over?"

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
