Random Egg Violence--Two Nights in a Row!
it doesn't feel so random anymore.

we got it friday AND saturday night. then a cryptic phone message left on voice mail: "I egged your house", said in a low, "spooky" voice. (teenagers!)

so the police were over here, once again on saturday night and then on mother's day--trying to track the call.

i have to wait till monday when my saturday night cop gets back on duty to see what the results of the tracing are. sigh.

i spent today cleaning off the house and car once again.

they left tons of egg cartons all over the place, got a couple neighbor's driveways too. i managed to track down a local store that was selling the eggs with the same lot/code number and expiration date.

now i have to talk the cop into taking his time to go view the tapes. i'm suspecting the eggs were bought no more than two to three hours before. why? because they were still cold (there were lots of unbroken eggs all over the place too!)

3. me too.
otherwise i'm gonna start putting signs in the yard that have various egg slogans such as:
random egg violence sucks yokes
only free range eggs allowed
warning: the hidden surveillance camera is recording you standing there reading this
only a chicken would lay an egg on my property
real boys don't have eggs
"an egg is a terrible thing to waste" -- julia childs (not really)

8. OHHHH...
just from my kid's high school days..maybe it's someone she goes to school with. My son's friend once egged our house because I wouldn't let my son go with him. I called his Mom and she said no he wouldn't do that. I told her I happened to look out the window and saw him with the eggs not more than 10 minutes before, which is why I wouldn't allow my son to go anywhere with him. She said she'd pray for me..

Same thing happened with another boy..soaped the heck out of our house..and we'd just seen him at the town store buying the bars of soap. I called his Mom..she told me he was sleeping in his room and refused my request to go check.

Are you rural or city schools? Rural schools also have terrible rivalries..seen and heard alot of stuff over the years. From dead pigs being left as presents in people's driveways, to horse/cow poop shoveled into schools, to the cheerleaders who wove cornstalks in my porch railing..

Good luck..hope you catch them.

10. thanks--we're suburban, apparently suburban and bored
i tracked down which store the eggs were purchased at (by a lot number on the cartons that were strewn all around) but the police told me there are more pressing things than for them to go view a security tape at a store.

i know there are important things for them to do....
and i was also told just because you see kids buying eggs doesn't prove they were throwing them. (good point).

i need to get the license plate number on the car. or a good look at the face of the kid. the plate number would be great.

15. Did I read in your first thread that you saw the car?
you might take a drive through the school parking lot to see if anything looks familiar. Chances are, unless he used his parent's vehicle, he may be driving daily to school.

6. You would make a great detective
It is more than a prank now. I'd call it serious. Stay after those cops. If you can track the egg cartons they can track the perps. Good luck. Keep us posted

9. I hate to ask this, but is it targeted at your daughter?
Hope you catch them soon.

You were so smart to follow up on the lot numbers on the cartons. And they were so dumb to leave them lying around.

Do I have it right that you have a surveillance camera out now?

11. no camera -- not sure how i would do that. it's at night, a camera
wouldn't really pick up features or a face unless i had flood lites going on which i don't.

13. Duh! Ok, I am obviously ready for bed! LOL
Don't know why I thought a camera would work at night!?

Silly me! Any way you could install a motion detector?

I guess the neighbors will also be on the lookout now.

So sorry this is happening to you!

16. no--it's pissed me off, yet i'm able to keep a sense of humor
about this--
my neighbor said if anyone egged her car she'd kill them. and so saturday before the second "egg toss" i went out and bought a tarp to give to her for mothers day and i typed up up special instructions and taped it on the package. it said:

"homicide prevention kit. directions: cover car with tarp. place several large, heavy rocks on the hood, roof and trunk to hold tarp in place. it may be necessary to use duct tape to keep tarp from flying up on sides of car. warning: duct tape may take the finish off your car--then again, so might a dozen eggs.

"use black or glow-in-the dark spray paint or a permanent marker to write your message on the tarp once it is in place. multiple messages are recommended. suggested signage: "

and i listed numerous phrases to write. my favorite ones: "warning: hidden surveillance camera is recording you standing there reading this" and "real boys don't have eggs".

(the kid i saw running away on friday night--from behind--looked like a boy--but then again who knows?)

18. Tuesday night update on the "Egger Caper"
my saturday night cop called me and said he he understands, from two reports i made since last him and i spoke, that i narrowed down the possible store the eggs were purchased at, and that i believed they were purchased earlier saturday evening since they were still cold.

so--he's going to go over to the store and get the security tape to look at it!!! yeah!!!

he said that if the "phone trap" i made from the egger phone call goes through--and he thinks it will (it's only a matter of time, approximately 3 days to two weeks for the phone company to get it to the police station), maybe he can match up teens buying eggs on the security tape with a telephone trace.

he's going to look at the tape and call me tomorrow. he said he could print up pictures from it and show my daughter to see if she recognizes anyone.

well---this is good. it's really good news. maybe we can find out who is doing this before they do it again!
