If you haven't yet seen the new 'Phantom of the Opera'...
...don't walk to the video shop, RUNto the video shop!

My apologies to Lon Cheney but...this version is just
THE MOST INCREDIBLE MOVIE EVER!

Stunning. Simply stunning.

And the music...the sets...the voices...and as always, of course, the story itself.

Hubby and I sat silent and entranced through the entire thing. Twice. Third time scheduled for right after we have some breakfast. :D

This is THE MUST-SEE movie

1. Helps that... Christine? is the right age, LOL....

I've not seen the film, but my friend who is a major fan says that on Broadway they always had to cast someone slightly older because of the length of the work day, blah blah... but that for the film, they could cast someone the right age.

Um, unless I'm thinking of something different, LOL!

Never had any interest in seeing it, but your glowing review might make me put it on my Netflix queue. :hi:

Would this be appropriate for a mature, almost 6 year old, btw??
She loves musicals.

2. And in this one my God talk about stunning beauty but it's her voice that
blows me over. Words fail to describe this one. This one's going to sweep the awards this year.

Hurry up, breakfast, COOK already! Wanna watch movie again! LOL!

IMO yes it would be safe for a mature 6yr old. There's no offensive language, no nudity. The story itself isn't syrup and sweet, but it's not nightmare street, either.

It's excellent for more mature kids, I think, as it deals with things like who one is and what one does is what matters, not how one looks and what true & deep compassion is.

And did I mention the incredible voices? And the music and the gorgeous fantastic sets?

3. Thanks for the review Lynn.....
I may go out and buy the DVD now! I've been avoiding the movie since I saw it on Broadway twice and was afraid I'd be so disappointed! I still haven't forgiven them for bypassing Michael Crawford for the role, he IS the Phantom! And the right age :)

I think this should have been a blockbuster, but alot of POTO purists boycotted the film over the miscasting of the phantom.

Hollywood ruined Evita casting Madonna instead of Patty Lupone!

4. I don't think it's possible for anyone to be disappointed by this one.
Andrew Lloyd Webber produced it; it just doesn't get any better than that. How did he find so many so incredibly talented people, I wanna know! The acting is so superbly done, it's mind blowing.

Watch their faces, Christine's and Phantom's, when they're on the bridge, on the stage, performing Don Juan, and she does to him what she didn't want to do, but knew she had to do. :wow:

The entire movie, start to finish, is...just simply :wow:

5. this is a great movie...
I was kinda iffy on whether I wanted to see the movie originally, as I had seen the stage play and LOVED it! How could anything compare to that? AND they passed over Michael Crawford for the role...

Anyway, I went with hubby when it came out at the theater, and we loved it! You are right, the sets, costumes, acting, voices, etc are just gorgeous. Its so beautifully done in every aspect. I hope it garners some awards this year. I'm glad you are enjoying it too!

6. I was surprised how good it was

I've seen it twice on Broadway and it is a favorite of mine. I really went into the movie with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.
