New foster kittens (pics)
Edited on Sun May-08-05 12:13 AM by Lorien
I've got three new foster kittens here this evening. I'll have to try to take some better pics tomorrow in natural light (all three were pretty wound up tonight)! These will have to do for now. Anyone want a kitten? ;-)

Isis

Osiris:

Osiris and Khephra:

Khephra (always easy to tell him from Isis because he hates the flash)!

1. Wow.
I have to say, Lorien, I've never really been a cat person, but I think you've converted me with these guys (and your own gorgeous buddies). Man, are they cute. And it's awfully good of you to foster them.

:yourock:

4. I was never a cat person either
until a kitten converted me 17 years ago (well, not completely-I still have a weakness for the larger dog breeds). All it takes is the right animal!

:hi:

25. Exactly! I'm incredulous when people say to me
"cats have no personality." I'm always like, WTF? What cats have YOU been around? All of mine have sometimes had TOO much personality! We watch them instead of TV sometimes!

You can see it in their faces- especially their eyes.

5. They are just adorable!
Thanks for sharing the pictures. I already have 2 cats and 1 dog, so I'll decline adopting another. BTW did anyone see the Oprah show yesterday on Hoarders? The one lady she had on had 81 cats and 6 dogs!!! Yikes!!

15. Well that's pretty horrifying!
I visited a house once with 35 cats in it-the smell nearly seared my lungs! Nope-three permanent cats is more than enough for me. Did the woman on Oprah have her home condemned?

12. They have they're own room
I have this huge, awful bathroom/ utility room addition off the back of my home (put there in the '80s, home was built in the '20s) it's ugly, but perfect for a kitten playpen! The other cats can see them through a pair of french doors. So far Oberon wants to play with them, Puck wants to kill them, and Miro just wants dinner!

and not as snacks, either. ;-)

Puck, on the other hand, is itching to beat the shit out of any of them!

11. I'm allergic, as well, but recently learned something at my vet's office
Apparently, the dander is much different for long-haired and short-haired cats. I had no idea! And this explains the reason my long-haired cat, Rhiannon, was able to sleep on my bed and I had no problem. Apparently, I am only allergic to short-haired cats, though I have had both. I never knew.

14. Actually, the only truly hypoallergenic cats
are Siberian Forest Cats (Google them for more info). But yes, I've noticed that my father's girlfriend, who is allergic to most cats, seems to have no problem with my two longhairs.

17. I was totally amazed by this.
The girl at my vet's office was carrying my skittish kitty around and broke out in a rash. She explained that this was because my cat was short-haired. When I adopted Rhiannon, she insisted on sleeping on my bed, and I, initially, tried to discourage her, since I knew I was allergic to cats and was afraid I would wheeze. But she persisted, LOL, and I never had the slightest trouble. I thought it was just because I loved her so much, but now I understand. The dander is different. I had been afraid it would be worse, but I was wrong. And this explains your situation. as well. I must pass this on to my friend, who recently lost her 17-year-old cat. She's not ready for another pet, but will be, sometime. Her doctor told her that she should not have a cat, but she's like me, just loves animals. Thanks for the information, since this could help us both, though we tend to adopt cats who find us.:-)

9. If I could, I would. They are adorable!
Kudos to you for doing this! If I ever take another cat, which I invariably will, I will take two. The black one breaks my heart, since both my Rhiannon and Catlin were black. Actually, I have a friend who recently lost her cat, who said this, that she'd want two. I don't know if she's ready, but I'll ask.

24. I just got it. I was going to ask why Bill Frist. But I know.
Sicko bastard. What I was going to say that I thought we were in the clear, since we're rid of John Ashcroft and these aren't calicos. So many sickos, so little time.*sigh*
