I bought five pairs of shoes yesterday!
I was so excited! See, I had two foot surgeries last summer (giant cell tumors). Everything is okay now. I didn't buy any shoes last year, because what was the use?

I only spent $82 on all 5 pairs! I regret not buying the "Carrie Bradshaw-type" high heels, but pictured myself falling down the steps or something graceful like that.

Has anyone else been getting any bargains lately? :)

1. I did the opposite a month ago... Had to go to big $$ fundraiser for
our kids' school. In Los Altos, there are no low $$$ fundraisers. I shook out an old cocktail dress and needed shoes.... bottom line, I looked all over... and bought a pair of 'Carrie Bradshaw style' gold heels for more than I have ever spent on any 2 pairs of shoes put together (including GOOD Hiking boots). They must have been spraying something in Nordstroms....I would NEVER buy shoes like that normally - but they were soooo right!

But I still LOVE them, and have only worn them twice. It's kind of like when I bought the $400 Neon pink blazer 7 years ago. I still love it, and at least that one gets worn 5+ times a year (always complimented).

Normally I wear my clothes into the ground so badly that Hubby ends up shopping for me ( I hate to shop) ....but occasionally I can rise to the occasion!!

3. I saw a white pair of heels yesterday that were just like the ones
Carrie wore in the last episode of Sex and the City. You know, the ones she's wearing in Paris when she steps in the dog doo.

Those shoes were sooo nice, but I'm not quite ready for heels like that yet.

Your shoes sound like they're very pretty. Sometimes you just have to splurge a little, especially when you know you'll get a lot of wear out of them.

5. Actually Carrie would never wear these... they are of the 'chunky'
variety. I cannot wear anything even close to stillettos. I am 5'7' w/ size 8 1/2 feet. I was a gymnast for years - yet I cannot balance in those silly stilletto style shoes.

That's why these sucked me in. The 2 1/2 ' heel is 2" around at the base, and it has GREAT TREADS!!! Treads are critical w/ any shoes I buy.

7. I used to be able to wear them a long time ago,
but alas, I think those days are long gone!

I wonder how Sarah Jessica Parker walks around in those things, sometimes she even RUNS in them. Amazing!

Is Los Altos anywhere near Los Gatos (near San Jose)? Or are you closer to LA?

14. Very close to Los Gatos... the Bay Area - Silicon Valley.

2. Is there a DSW near you?
I get the most amazing buys on designer shoes there, and, for kicking around, Timberlands and Ecco and things like Bally loafers and Cole Haan. And for every $250 you spend, they send you a $25 certificate, so it's like the original prices are 10% lower than they actually are.

http://www.dswshoe.com/index.jsp

I bought $300 boots there for $60 not long ago.

I hope you have one near you. I really do.

And congratulations!

4. Actually, I think there is one about 15 miles from here.
I'm going to have to check out DSW, now that I'm in the market again!

Yippee!

6. I was at one today
For the first time ever! I just discovered Born shoes/sandals. How the heck did I never find these before?!?! Got great 'fisherman's' sandals for $40, about 1/2 off regular price. First new sandals I've loved this much since I discovered Teva like 12 years ago :)

8. Teva and Merrell
I went off on Merrell slipons this past year - got them in every color and style. DSW is like that.

A good friend of mine - who's a psychotherapist - goes to DSW when she's stressed, and just walks up and down the aisles, sometimes not even trying on any shoes. The place is a kind of mental health spa, I swear.

Lucky you!

9. LOL
Merrell makes great shoes, too! :)

The Born flip-flops could be dangerous like that, too. I could see owning more than one color of those, and that's unusual for me. I tend to live in hiking boots and Tevas, and occasionally other shoes.

DSW would be more fun next time, without a 2.5 year old to chase around, LOL.

10. I am a recovering "shoe-addict". I still have my purse addiction,
but I am cured of the shoe addiction. I used to just love buying shoes, but now that I do not have a paying job, I wear Clarks clogs, birkenstocks and flip flops..

I once paid $55.00 for a lovely pair on Nina oxfords (still have them..they are a work of art)..Those were 1966 dollars, and I only made 75 cents an hour at the time.. But I LOVE those shoes..they are even back in style now:)

11. I got a pair of Clarks for $19.74 yesterday. They are SO comfortable!
I'll definitely look for them again.

I also got a Nine West purse yesterday on clearance for $12.99. It's cute; it's a summer purse which I really needed.

12. You got my attention.
How did you manage to get Clarks for $19.74? What kind of shoes are they?

13. They are clogs in red leather, which actually is more of a burgundy.
They were on the clearance rack at a department store here, Kaufmann's (now owned by Macy's). They were marked down to $29.74, and there was a coupon for an extra $10.00 off in the paper if you made your purchase by 1:00 p.m. I made the deadline by five minutes!

I really needed shoes and clothes, but I'm also trying to be on an austerity kick. I managed to do both yesterday! Whew!

15. Good for You!
I've been going hogwild with shoes since I lost weight a couple years ago. I figure I only have a few more years before I have to move into Dr. Scholl's, so I'm going to have fun while I can! And I'm under 5'4", so I love those heels.

I do Zappo's online; I pick the shoes I like at any price, and put them in my Wish List or whatever they call it. I check back every once in a while and see if anything on my wish list has gone under 35.00 or 40.00, and if it has, I snap it up!
