Alright, forget pot, anyone ever smoke Clove cigarettes...
The most popular brand being Djarum.

I started smoking them in college, in fact, that's how I started smoking in the first place.

Pretty harsh on the lungs tho...

Anyone else.

7. My husband smoked them and became a cigarette addict
He only smoked those kind and couldn't stand regular cigarettes. Luckily, he quit at the end of the year. Good for his health and our bank account. He still has cravings though, even when he is not around anyone smoking. I took a few puffs off of one of his just to see what it was like.

They were totally harsh on the lung, but were nice at the same time.

Now, I'm just a Camel Turkish Gold gal. (I'm cutting back on my way to quitting).

30. For me it was art school
It seemed like that sad, suffering Bohemian thing to do back then.

Looking back, I wish I hadn't started since it lead to tobacco smoking, which I still haven't been able to shake to this day.

took me ten years after art school to kick smoking.

The black-garbed fellow students were more Warhol/Velvet Underground than Goth.

Edited on Sun May-08-05 02:38 PM by LiberallyInclined

i gave them up after about a year- i'd smoke about 5 or 6 per day when i did smoke them.
that was the only time in my life that i was a cigarette smoker- it was when i was in college as well- in champaign-urbana at U of I.

i was also, and still am, a chronic pothead.

32. I loved those! Brings back a lot of memories.
Smoked a lot of them in college and after. Yes they were really strong, but they tasted great and smelled so good. I once was chased down the street in Toronto by someone who wanted to buy some, since apparently they were illegal there. I guit smoking 10 years ago, but the smell of those will make me wish I still smoked!

35. Love them.
I just picked up a pack of Djarum Blacks a couple weeks ago.

Too expensive to smoke regularly, but I'll usually grab a pack when I know I'm going to be around someone who's not bothered by smoke so much as the smell of regular cigarettes. Cloves are a nice compromise.

It's weird, because I feel no effect on my lungs. I smoke Camel Turkish Jades regularly and every once in a while when I'm chainsmoking, my throat will get raw. But I could put back a pack of cloves in a day and still not have my throat bothering me.

And I have read they can contain chemicals which cause heart attacks/high blood pressure in some.

Avoid them. PHEW, what a stench!
