Space Storms! How cool is all this?
http://www.spaceweather.com/

IMPACT: A coronal mass ejection (CME) swept past Earth at approximately 1500 UT on Oct. 24th. The impact did not trigger an intense geomagnetic storm (at least not yet) because the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) near Earth is pointing north--a condition that suppresses geomagnetic activity. Another CME is en route to Earth, due to arrive later today or tomorrow. Geomagnetic storming is possible when that one arrives.

Everything about the Sun is amazing. I think the most fascinating documentary I've ever seen was about the Sun. It was on the Discovery Channel (I think) about two years ago. They did a great job of explaining and demonstrating the massive amounts of energy that the Sun puts out. The giant magnetic storms on the sun's surface are just amazing to ponder. I was transfixed.

Did anyone else see this show? I've been looking to buy it on DVD, but can't remember the title.

On edit: Anyone else's lights flickering? Mine are, about once every few minutes. Egads!

4. it's a neat coincidence that this is happening
on Take Back Your Time Day. Nothing like a CME to force us to put down all the electronics for a few hours and enjoy the real world!

http://www.simpleliving.net/timeday/

"TAKE BACK YOUR TIME DAY is a nationwide initiative to challenge the epidemic of overwork, over-scheduling and time famine that now threatens our health, our families and relationships, our communities and our environment."
