Finally......after a year and a half of persistence and application, the Social Security office gave me good news. I'm getting my disability! It's been a long road, and one that I can't recommend to most, but at the very least, I know that if you really are in need of it, and you are persistent, and you also have a competent group working to achieve your goal, it is possible.

It might be awhile until it is all finalized, but the judge's favorable decision means I can now ponder what I'm able to do within my limitations, and try and get back on my feet again.

I have three things I need/want when I finally have it--one is a full tank of gas! The second is a new mattress which I need desperately, and the third is a new digital camera to replace my broken one. That's it.

I'd say it's about time. I know one gal that went through all of that who has all but lost her feet and she was recently told she was going to loss her disablity because they said she could do some type of work. She is very upset. So watch they are bastards

Your comment on the effectiveness of persistence should be noted by all. I only waited 7 months and needed only one appeal. My case is atypical. Most go through what you did or worse. Thank Goodness the program is still there, and may we be diligent in trying to protect it.
