Poll question: Would You Date Someone Shorter (or Taller) Than Yourself?
If you are a single guy, would you date a woman who was two or three or more inches taller than you?

Or would you be intimidated by her height?

Consersely, if you are a single woman, would you date a guy who was two or three or more inches shorter than you?

Or would you be embarassed by his height?

1. I've dated women taller than me.
It takes some getting used to, but it's not that big a deal.

I tend to look for women who are fairly close to my height. (I'm 5'8" ) But, at this point, I really don't care...height is something that a person has little control over, so I can't hold it against them.

5. I'm 5-10
And my ex was 6-feet. I never had a problem with it either, but my grandmother wasn't too thrilled about it. Especially when she wore high heels and then was suddenly a 6-3 Amazon who towered over me.

Which, also kinda turned me on, but that's a whole 'nother story.

2. I don't think I met a woman taller then me
I am sure there are women out there taller then me but I haven't seen them. But on the issue of height, I don't think it would matter.

3. sure, why not?
of course, I'm 6'5", so she'd really be an Amazon, and I'd probably be scared of her.

I have a hard enough time finding someone 3 inches shorter than me, let alone taller.

I think they had a bigger issue with it than I did- although I admit it's nice to have a boyfriend that is taller than me.

but, statistically, it's VERY unlikely to happen, since I'm 6' tall....

I'm just under 5 feet so I wouldn't date someone shorter. I feel kind of bad about it too but I have to be honest with myself. I actually prefer tall guys

11. I got dumped by a woman because I was her height.
Not shorter than her - - exactly the same height. (I'm 5'9.) No other complaints about me - she just couldn't get past that.

and although I wouldn't say never, I don't recall ever meeting any adult men shorter than me. Hell, my younger brother and all his friends were my height in the 5th grade. :eyes:

18. I'm only 5'5''
The shortest adult men that I know are around my height besides the guy I worked part time with that had some disabilities. I went to a school dance though in eighth grade with a really short guy that hadn't gone through puberty yet. He really liked me and wanted to dance close. Unfortunately, his face was even with my breasts and I felt rather uncomfortable with that.
My husband is 6'4''. If I would have stuck to my set criteria instead of falling in love, that would have been too tall for me. I really didn't like being at that big of a height disadvantage so before I had only considered dating men under six feet tall. Then I met my husband. His height is soemtimes annoying but I accept him for who he is. He is easier to find in a store too if we become separated. I just look up and scan for the tall.

(and redhaired )

And I have dated shorter men, in fact, my second husband was 5'10".
Not a big deal. I have always been curious about the tall guy short woman thing, though. It's my experience that tall men always want to date little bitty women. What's that all about??

I usually wind up with men who are right around my height.

27. Not all tall men prefer little bitty women
My husband's 6'2". He's ended up married to two short women - I'm 5'2", and his ex-wife is 5'4" - but it didn't have anything to do with a preference for short women. His taste runs to tall, long-legged brunettes, so he ended up with one short blonde (his ex) and a shorter redhead (me). Although I do have long legs for my height.

I do have a preference for big guys - not just tall, I like 'em big. Don't ask me why, I've just always had a weakness for big beefy blonds.

26. There's not many grown men shorter than me
...but I don't have a lot of hangups about it. I did date one guy, an ex-jockey, who was about an inch shorter than me. I'm so used to being with guys who are a foot taller than I am that a shorter guy would be a novel change.

33. I'd have to say I have a height 'preference'
I'm just under 5'5" and dated men anywhere between 5'5" and 6'2". There was a potential instance with someone 7' once, but he was married and I was 15 and smarter than that. My husband is 5'9" and I used to say I preferred 5'10" or more, so go figure.

35. I would, but,
like some of the others above, I'm 6'5", so we're talking some serious feminine altitude here.

It'd be weird, for sure. In fact, it's weird when I meet a man who's anywhere over 6'1" or 6'2" because I'm so used to always looking slightly down, I guess, that they seem taller than me even if they actually aren't.

The tallest woman that I've known was 6'2" (not known in that biblical sense) and 5'10" is the extent of the tallest woman that I've had romantic bidness with.

And now I'm picturing someone who looks like Xena, but 6'7" or 6'8", and I have to say that it's not at all unappealing. Of course, that's probably mainly the looking-like-Xena bit. And I stillr emember Darryl Hanna in the remake of "The 5-Foot Woman." Ooooo...isn't she something like 6' all?

If I were of more gravitionally-friendly stature I'd not hesitate to get together with a taller woman. In the meantime, yes, more petite women are pretty much dandy with me. I've had a romantic episode with a woman who was especially petite, but I don't know her exact dimensions. Can't have been much change from 5', anyway. My wife and most other women that I've known (as friends) pretty much fall in the 5'5" to 5'7" range.

I don't care. I like 'em all (except the ones that I don't like).
