Interesting comment. I'd be inclined to agree if La Bamba was the only song they ever played. But it's not. they are inventive and take chances. Santana is a nice guitar player, but not really on the edge or anything. Frank Zappa satirized him on a release called "the secret 3 chord progression of Carlos Santana" or something like that.
