Bellamy bids for Kentucky honours
BBC

The Nick Zito-trained Bellamy Road is likely to go off as favourite for Saturday's Kentucky Derby at 2300BST.

The horse, who is priced at around 5-2, has been drawn 16 in the 20-strong field is one of five horses in the race trained by Zito.

With four wins in his five starts, including a 17-length victory in last month's Wood Memorial, he has been marked out as the one to beat.

His owner George Steinbrenner also owns the New York Yankees baseball team.

1. my annual ritual, watch the Derby, cry when "My Old Kentucky Home"
is sung by 300000 people, can't help it; it just happens.

Totally out of my control.

tear up my pari-mutual tickets....last year I did have Smarty Jones on a Derby Futures bet. Saved my whole day when the track turned up muddy and I backed Tapit at the windows.

2. I boycott all racing.
It's cruel to the horses, and if that's not enough, you should read about the effects on jockey's health. Sorry to piss in everyone's juleps, but I feel strongly about this, as the owner of an abused ex-racehorse.

Cherry AKA Sheriff's Campaign
bought at a throwaway auction because she couldn't even "win" a claiming race. I'm just lucky her legs are clean. She's an excellent dressage/combined training horse now.
