Do indecisive people ever grow out of it?
Anyone have any experience with a person who couldn't make up their mind about something important, for, oh, I dunno, a really long time, and then finally got his or her shit together?

4. Nope.
All the ones I've ever known have stayed that way. It can be so frustrating to deal with that type.

8. Sorry --
I know adults that can't even decide what to eat for dinner.

Who knows? Maybe there's an exception to the rule. I just haven't seen one.

Some indecisive clod bringing you down?

Just waiting/hoping for the day when she wakes up and figures it all out.

But I'm not looking for a pity party...life moves on.

15. Isn't that the way it usually works?
Some of the things I least wanted to happen led to some of the best paths I would have never taken.

9. A lot of people I know like that, are that way....
...because they want to be everything to everybody, and hence, can't decide on anything, for fear that they would piss off this person or that group. They take a stand on nothing, and hence, end up never exerting their own opinion on anything.

18. I hope so
I've been trying to figure out the next step in the general direction of my life for several months now and haven't accomplished much of anything; just several false starts and a lot of frustration and insomnia.

I keep hoping someday soon what I'm supposed to do will just dawn on me, but I think the answer is just within me and I just have to make myself change; it's very hard though; I feel like I've lived my life alright so far (no major screw-ups) but haven't really enjoyed it. I think about trying something totally new but then can't begin to decide what that would be.

So I guess I know what you mean about being indecisive. I think that people like that can change but I think something major may have to happen that either causes them to have a major realization about something or causes the basic circumstances in their life to change dramatically so that they have to make a major decision. Short of something like that happening, it'll probably take a very long time for them to take any sort of plunge. I know that may be disheartening, but I think I'm speaking from experience... that's at least how I feel about it.

I wish you luck with this person, though...
