Who here likes Bruce Springsteen?
I dig him. Ever since I first hear Nebraska. His new one "Devil's in dust" is pretty good as well.

Lot's like to knock him, but I like to ROCK HIM!

Oow oooowww!

1. I like him
He is brother-in-law's favorite, so of course my nephew loves him too.

2. He's great.
I like his solo stuff like The Ghost of Tom Joad better than the newer stuff with the E Street Band, so I can't wait to get Devils and Dust. I'll have to do that this weekend.

5. The Ghost of Time Joad is a magnificent album

Its sad that I have to wait another two weeks to get this latest album. It sucks when rent and auto insurance hit all at once.

7. I like him as a songwriter, but not as much as a performer.
Just not my taste.

11. You might want to listen to some of his earlier stuff
if you haven't already. "Greetings from Asbury Park", "The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle"

Beautiful, moving stuff.

I haven't gotten his new acoustic CD yet, but I hope it returns to some of those deep roots.

9. Love Him!!
Way back when I was 17, long before Al Gore invented the internets, I waited outside, overnight in the rain to get tickets. It was totally worth it. One of the best concerts I have ever seen. However, when someone waits like I did, I was expecting to get really good seats and I didn't. My choice was something like 40th row main floor or like 5th row mezzanine. No brainer, I took the mezzanine. I am not real tall and knew I would see much better in the mezzanine.

12. Yes, I remember many nights in my teens staying up all night
to get good seats. Sometimes it worked.

My best friend was even more fanatical than I was about Bruce, and she scored front row seats a few times. Of course we were both convinced that he was looking at us through the whole show.

Probably was, because he wanted to keep track of where we were. We were scary in our fanaticism, and he probably wanted to be sure he could get away if we stormed the stage! : )

10. Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuce!
Saw him and the E Street Band, including the amazing Clarence Clemmons and Little Stevie Van Zandt (Silvio on The Sopranos), in the 70's at Carter Barron Amphitheatre, a tiny outdoor venue in DC. This was before "Born to Run", before the mega concert venues. It was a transformative experience.

I wish I could say I've seen him in the last decade, but I haven't. Just at Kerry rallys on Cspan. He is playing locally soon, an acoustic show, but we couldn't get tix.

When I listen to Bruce, I forget about my gray hair, the mortgage, and the fact that I'm now over 40. ;-)

17. That Is MY Favorite, Too
Tramps like us, baby we were born to ruuuuuuuuuun!!

In second place is "Glory Days"

Wasn't always a fave of mine, but as I am getting older now, I'm finding I relate more and more to that song now.

"My Hometown" is another favorite of mine, too...for similar reasons.

I dunno, I just seem to dig the somewhat bitter, somewhat bittersweet, and sometimes cynical feel of Springsteen's music.

For some reason, Springsteen just really speaks to me...and, I find, as I get older...he speaks even MORE to me.

Getting old is a real bitch....this world kicks a lot of the guts out of you between the ages of about 29 and 35, let me tell you...

19. Springsteen is God.
HIs songs saved my life a couple times.
OK, that's overstating it a little.

but when the vote for change tour came to st. paul last fall, it was a jaw-dropping, stupefying, astounding thing to see Bruce and Neil Young jamming for 15-20 minutes on "All Along the Watchtower," based mostly on the Jimi Hendrix interpretation of the Dylan song.

It may have been the best piece of live music I've ever seen, and that's no hyperbole!
