The shittiest band you've ever seen?
I paid to see Chixdiggit... with such hits as "I wanna hump you" and "Hemp hemp hooray"

However I really PAID to see Huevos Rancheros, a kick as instrumental band.

Tons of CHixdiggit on Kazaa...no Huevos

Deets, please.

(I saw the Kinks during their Preservation Act One tour, and although I am a big fan, boy, did they blow! Embarassingly bad. Dave was too drunk to play. They had all sorts of extremely bad extras performing with them too. The album was one of their worst as well -- although I think Sweet Lady Genevieve is a great song, and thusly waaaay out of place on this bomb. )

Great band; have been known to give great shows, but are notorious for some high profile stage stinkers.

They released a two CD live album around 1999 -- check it out. It's great.

Dave did a solo tour of old Kink songs a few years ago in small venues and was just incredible.

15. Really?
When did you see them? I saw them in 76 and thought they were still great. The Sleepwalker album was the show.

26. the only memorable moment was 'lola'...

29. But when did you see them?
Ray Davies wrote some really strange and funny stuff, and they were fun to watch perform when I saw them.

34. Ray is one of the greats
Lots of funny, quirky stuff, but also music of sheer beauty and poetry, like "Days."

I was just a kid and this concert just about broke my heart, because I had waited for years to see them in person.

If you're a fan, you might want to read his autobiography. He tells a lot of the "disastrous concert" stories in it -- like the time he was so drunk he passed out cold in the middle of a song. He just laid there, and the band played on like nothing happened. Finally, a fan shouted -- "Is he okay?" and Dave looked over and was himself so drunk all he could do was laugh, until someone carried the unconscious man off the stage.

36. Self destructive behaviors enabled by money and adulation.
It's a wicked combination that stole many greats. That and small aircraft. And vomit. And a ham and cheese sandwich.

30. 1973/74 sound about right?
I don't even think they did Lola, or anything not on the sucky album -- a very bad "rock opera". Dave was drunk and walked off and Ray didn't bother to pull out the acoustic and do anything to redeem the evening for the poor souls who paid money for this crap.

33. Yeah, that sounds about right.
They were notorious for "uneven" touring, now that I think about it. Indifferent for your show.
Yeah, it sucks when you buy the record/8 track/cassette/CD (and dare I say download an mp3?), invest in a ticket and time, and the fuckers don't care.

18. Yes-Bloodhound Gang!
My friend dragged me to their concert cuz she knows the bassist-Lupis-and we got in for free with VIP passes (thankfully I didn't have to pay because they sucked ass). I met them and they were total asses, so I hung out with this other band called "A" from England, whom they were touring with, and they were halarious! Crappiest concert I've ever seen though and I've seen a lot!

A band I love dearly.

Awful show. Muddy mix. Crowd-surfing. Too much audience participation.

They were upstaged by their phenomenal opening band, the Octopus Project.

24. They had a few regrettable hits.
Don't Tell Me You Love Me was top 40 - barely.

When You Close Your Eyes peaked at 14.

And of course, Sister Christian.

I'd have thought You Can Still Rock In America was a hit too, but mercifully, it apparently wasn't.

And yeah, I guess Night Ranger is my answer too.

25. I saw Milli Vanilli and Germaine Jackson in the same show.
Edited on Thu May-05-05 11:57 PM by cestpaspossible
Germaine Jackson actually started lip-synching a different song than the one playing and had to start over. This was Arista Records 15th Anniversary Concert, though, so ther were some good acts as well. I think The Marty Balin Band at the Santa Rosa Civic Center is the most memorably bad concert I ever went to.

31. Brownsville Station.
At a crappy Woodstock Wannabe Festival at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia.
I pitched my tent in the sheep pavilion, near the hog exhibit.
Three days. Heat. No water. Hallucinigens. People raided the local livestock and crops. I have stories.
