Question about TiVo. Can I skip the commercials?
I just got a TiVo but someone told me I couldn't skip commericals, unless I fast forward through them. I thought it would play my programs automatically skipping commercials.

Anyone know? Do I have to do something special? I don't want to have to fast forward through commericals...unless I have no other choice. (Yeah, I could watch the commericals...but that's the last choice.)

1. Click 'Fast forward' twice... stop it when you see the show
it will go to the end of the last commercial. This ONLY works w/ double FF - not single or triple.

2. No. You cannot.
You must watch the commercials. The commercials supply important information regarding your consumer decisions. If you do not watch the commercials, you will be an uninformed consumer. Uninformed consumers disrupt the flow of commerce. If you do not watch the commercials, you cannot participate in exchange of currency for goods and services.

Sorry, I know it's snarky. I couldn't resist.

Not watching commercials is a crime -- you're stealing. :eyes:
Jamie Kellner is the chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting, which encompasses everything from CNN to TNT and is a part of AOL Time Warner. On Monday, an interview with Kellner appeared in CableWorld.

In response to a question on why personal video recorders (PVR's) were bad for the industry, Kellner responded: "Because of the ad skips.... It's theft. Your contract with the network when you get the show is you're going to watch the spots. Otherwise you couldn't get the show on an ad-supported basis. Any time you skip a commercial or watch the button you're actually stealing the programming."

10. In that case...
...I'm "stealing" everytime I go to the bathroom during a commercial, right, Mr. Kellner?
