Is it my imagination, or is CSI really, really bad
I hate those flashbacks, moments of revelation, intuition, whatever. And why, when someone is pawing through a box to find something important like a murder tool, do they have to zoom in on the bottle label, then the list of active ingredients, then, for frama, the skull and crossbomes and hold?

Its just dumb. FIrst time I have had it on.

2. Like most shows - it used to be better.
It's a little bit melodramatic now.

But, it's still fairly entertaining, and sometimes educational.

27. I like the show overall but…
that's definitely something that bothers me about it.

they're not crime investigators… they're crime SCENE investigators… nothing more.

4. Is that the crime-scene show
in Miami?

Oprah had the stars on today-for some reason it is the most popular show today.

I saw it a few times-and I love true crime/forensics stuff. It was okay, not too great.

friends had warned me not to watch it. Oh well. Yeah, there is water, must be in Miami. This is popular, eh? And on oprah? wow, I do live in a cave.

Yeah, if you're an expert in this field, you'll have a hard time with this show.

But for me, I think the show's OK.

but have been around it for a number of years. Wasn't really trying to go with that end, can forgive technical stuff, just seemed overly dramatic. Which is better, Vega or Miami?

the channel just happened to be on Oprah. The lead actress from CSI came on as a guest, and that's when I learned about its popularity.

thats how I wound up posting this ill=fated thread. I turned the TV one, its was there, watched a little, and then posed a poorly thought through question. Uh, I don't I have ever seen an Oprah episode either, so, who the hell am I to critique TV?

5. Which CSI? Miami?
I made it through only a small handfull of these horrid shows. Everything is so completely over the top and contrived. And, yes, the acting is horrible, too. But when they started doing CSI's in different city, it reached a new high in lows.

7. Oh, stop. You sound like
Dan Quayle dissing The Simpsons. It's a TV show! Escapism. The actors are prettier and sexier than regular people. They wear better clothes. The stories are bizarre. And titillating. And I like it.

I might just alert you for comparing me to Danny-boy - that is one of the low-downest personal attacks I have seen on DU. Glad you enjoy. It tries hard to be bizarre. I'll give it that.

18. the lighting is pretty bad
sure the show is escapism, but knowing that an actual crime lab would not be that dim is annoying and distracts from the show's entertainment value.

19. It utterly sucks, except for the
science. And the Las Vegas franchise has a lead character called Grissom. Grissom is one of the most interesting characters ever to be on TV. He is very detailed, low key and quirky in a realistic way. I'd bet it's based on a real person who the writers/producers know really well. The actor does a pretty good job with it.

this season it seems like ALL the characters are trying to be unlikeable.

weird

I've tried to watch the show, but I think it's sooooo fakey and strange, I can't figure why it's a hit.

tell me mister critic- what do you consider to be quality television programs.
Since you feel that CSI sucks so bad, it would certainly be interesting and enlightening to know in which directions your tastes run.

31. Not a critic, per se
happened to turn on the TV, decided to try to watch it and it, in my opinion, sucked. I knew it was highly rated, and I have heard a lot about it, so I thought I would go to my friends here at DU for some feedback. Whew, I got some. Hell, I even got compared to Dan Quayle - come on! I hope ya'll are as passionate next fall when we unseat the unelected pretender in the white house.

Since you asked, here are some shows I watch on occassion - I'll exclude PBS shows, which are a different animal:
ER - ups and downs over a long haul, but it moves fast
Law amd Order - because its on every friggin night, like an old friend
Simpsons - because
Futurama - I knew a set designer for the show
King of Hill - I lived in Texas and knew guys like BoomHauer (sp)
Good Morning Miami - Cuz the chick with short hair has incredible eyes
Letterman - George Bush* Joke that isn't
Conan - not as good as with Andy R., but I am half asleep by then anyway

36. Jesus, talk about thin skin...
It's just a damn TV show, and an overacted one at that. Why is it so important to you that EVERYONE like what you do? Are you in desperate need of that kind of validation, or what?

You sure seem to want to be able to read a lot about a person's psyche and their emotional state in just two sentences. Where in the world did you get the idea that it it "so important" to me that "EVERYONE" like what I do?
"Desperate need of that kind of validation"...???
You seem to be in desperate need of a bug-up-your-ass-ectomy.
If you're as gonzo a Dr. as you like to pretend, maybe you could even perform the procedure yourself.
I'd reccomend a hand mirror and a red-hot poker.

37. It needs to be messier
Crime scenes are messy. Autopsies are messy. The people involved get messy.

People under stress behave badly, like criminals, victims, mourners.

My favourite show right now is MI-5 on BBC.
