2. What holiday is that?
I got one on Monday, and I'm don't work on Fridays (which is helpful as tomorrow is election day), so I can't really begrudge you a day-off.

3. It's Christi Himmelfahrt
religious holiday (the day Jesus went to heaven). Don't know the English word for it.

So who are you going to vote for tomorrow, if I may ask?

10. Ascension Day - not a public holiday though
It is (fairly irrelevant factoid alert here) the only day on which English parents have a legal right to remove their child from school for religious serivces (the other major Christian festivals falling during holidays anyway) - obviously schools do tend to bend-over backwards to accommodate all religious positions but the only specifies Ascension.

I'm still not certain about my vote. I live in the 5th most safe Conservative seat in the country (before he got his present seat, poodle boy stood in a by-election here and got less than 5% of the vote), there really is no chance that anybody other than the Tory will get in. I'm far from enamoured with the Labour Party at the moment (and not just over Iraq, though I haven't trusted Blair for about 10 years), I have seen too much of the extreme cynicism and opportunism of the LibDems to support them; the only other candidate is UKIP, and they really are a bunch of nut-cases. I'm very tempted to write a very short essay on the futility of British politics on the ballot paper.

31. I will attend my polling station - yes
I may not cast a valid vote, but I will place a ballot-paper into the box.

In Britain spoiling one's paper is a well established manner of expressing a desire to take part in the political process, yet simultaneously rejecting those candidates/parties with which one is faced.

37. Thankfully they're not a problem round here
The B.N.P. aren't standing, the UKIP does have a fair bunch of fools and cranks but they're nowhere near the pure unadulterated thuggery of the neo-nazis.

9. I don't think you can clean and
be lazy at the same time, can you? I'm the lazy one. I'll avoid the cleaning part until I absolutely can't stand it any more. That way I can make myself stick with it until I get something done. :P

11. I somehow have the feeling that the being lazy part
will be the more dominant part of the day. Fortunately my apt doesn't look too bad yet, so I think i can put the cleaning off a bit. Except maybe washing some clothes, which isn't too much work.

his apt. is sometimes messy also ... LOL

But I got better over the years. In the beginning when I lived alone my apt looked awful most of the time. Only when my mom or dad showed up I started a frenetic cleaning before ... LOL

24. gee I hope not
I'd miss you too much!

I was checking for an adapter ~ I think ~ for my Dell notebook. So many of the places where I check in now have cable connections and dial-up (which is my current method of reaching the web while traveling) is not only slow but it can run up quite a hotel room phone bill as we found out while visiting Boston :grr: so I'll still be able to send you a cyber hug while I'm out and about.

We share many things my friend - like our love of DU !

Thanks for referring me back to post # 2. No sense in typing the same thing twice if there is an easier way
