Poll question: One of our company's drivers has no right arm.
He lost it in an industrial accident years ago.

he drives an old Jeep CJ with a 4-speed transmission, and for work he drives a 15-speed, 10-ton dumptruck. He doesn't always have the same truck, so whatever he drives isn't adapted for someone with one arm.

Most of the time I see him drive-by, he's talking on his phone, smoking a cigarette, waving to people, or drinking a coffee. Sometimes a combination of these things.

How do you think he manages to drive and do all that stuff strictly left-handed.

2. I have no idea
but I have a friend who does the same thing. He lost the bottom half of his arm in a car accident and isn't a canidate for a prosthesis due to nerve damage. I've seen him juggle a beer, a lit cigarette and his cell phone while he had my car jacked up and was replacing my brakes. I have no idea how the physics of that works, but I've seen it with my own eyes.

He drives a stick most of the time and works in construction, so apparently he gets by just fine.

4. Scariest ride I was ever on
Was with my uncle, who was paralyed from the bottom of his ribcage downward in a workplace accident about 11 years ago. He has a van with hand controls. We were driving along about 75 mph on one of the toll roads outside Orlando. With one hand, he was manipulating the gas and brake controls with a cigarette between his fingers. With the other, he was steering sort of with his arm while holding a cup of coffee. Meanwhile, because he's Italian, anytime he spoke he was also gesturing with the hand with the coffee.

:wow:
