I have a problem with anyone complaining about "middle aged women"

when it comes to "why do middle aged women . . ." I take offense. I suffer enough problems trying to get a decent job in this society and being single I've suffer uncountable slights from people who thought I was gay and hated me for being a single woman, wanted to deny me a job because I'm a single middle-aged woman or whatever.

I think its a bad characteristic, as if someone had posted, " I really don't like black people who . . ." that's what I found offensive.

It's just a discriptor. I'm a middle-aged man. Now, if it meant that ALL middle-aged men do such and such, I would be offended. But not for being called middle-aged. Just got tix to take my daughter to see Lollapalooza and rumors are that New Order is going to play. Already got Pixies, Brian Jonestown Massacre, and a whole bunch more. A bargain at $85 for two days. Looks like, apart from Widespread Panic and Billy Idol, who just truly suck, it should be great.

when a woman denigrates an older single woman who doesn't have kids, its a personal insult, it is intentional for the most part and it's a power play to make the woman with kids seem "superior". It is an intentional move to make the single woman feel inferior. Sometimes it is followed by a request for a great deal of money, seeming that a single woman couldn't possibly want to save up any money for her own retirement. I'm not even talking about myself here, this is what I've observed from other single women. I've seen it done all my life and I can vouch for this.

As a "middle aged" single male who hasn't married or had kids, I also dislike when people consider having children as "normal" and anyone who doesn't have children as "abnormal", but I don't consider it to be a personal attack. I just consider them to be ignorant, insensitive people and get on with life.
