My cat is very sick. I took him to the vet and they are checking on him. He has problems with his kidneys and they don't know at this point. I'm so scared, I'm ready to lose my baby right now.

My cat has kidney failure which stared this past spring and we give her injections. Now, she is just fur and bones and have to send her to heaven this Saturday. I'm am very sad and I sure know what you are going through but I hope it's not like mine...she's 17 years old and my heart is breaking. I will pray for your little cat too, I'm so sorry. How old is your cat? When I found out about my cat and posted it on DU I received a lot of advice which helped. You are not alone. Peace to you and your feline.

33. Update on Mickey

I just spoke to one of techs at the vet. Mick is taking the IV's well. They were able to get blood and urine samples, so the results of the tests will be the key.

Thank you all again for wonderful messages. We've had so many sad pet stories around here. I hope we have happy ending. You guy really mean so much to me. Not just because of our political beliefs, but because you all are such warm and loving people. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This past week has been the greatests high from meeting Mary Wilson and to this with Mickey.

Thanks again, I'll keep you wonderful people updated.

41. Just went through this with an adopted cat this spring and summer.

We adopted an alley cat in May who had kidney failure. Poor little fella -- his disease had progressed quite a bit when we adopted him but we gave him an IV every morning and some oral meds. What a little sweetie!

Not to worry RKM, it might not be as serious as kidney failure and with current treatment options -- health maintainence for Mickey could be a snap!

If it is serious, PM me and I'll share what I learned this summer. Has Mickey had dramatic weight-loss or incontinence?

48. My cat had a lot wrong with her, as well

She was on her own for a long time before I found her and brought her in, so it's not surprising. But I have a brilliant vet and she's doing incredibly well, after having a growth removed from her ear and extensive dental surgery. They're more resiliant than you would think, being so small. My kitty just jumped up in my chair with me. Before her surgery, I couldn't get near her. Miracles happen every day. Both of us are hoping for one for Mickey, as well!:hi:
