I'm really sick of these "Anti-socialist" people out there
Just heard one at lunch, he was going on about lefties and how "He's sick of" this and that.
Then he pulls away in his big Ford 350 compensator with all the bells and whistles, burning fuel, polluting and pissing me off all at once.
As well, all during his tirade with his buddy, he's holding the only newspaper in the restaurant. Another typical righty thing... hold the only paper in the restaurant without reading it. I wanted to yell, "Hey, asshole.... if you're sitting talking to a friend at lunch give the paper to those of us that are alone."

Dick.

I guess he doesn't want his tax money spent on social issues.... he'd rather buy a second compensator.. which he'll need when the skyrocketting crime rate causes his first one to be stolen because the guy that took it couldn't get into the rehab he needed.

ARGH!

1. I see those assholes every day!
They bitch when they see the families at the grocery store using an EBT(food stamp) card, then they bitch when they see someone standing on a street corner begging for food.
WTF do they want?

8. They are usually the first to call the police to have the
nuisances removed from their precious sidewalks! And they bitch when they see the family of four in the grocery store paying for their groceries w/ pennies too (damn, they probably lost their jobs or are not making enough to survive and only have one dollar in pennies to pay for the stale loaf!).
I do call the police on the beggars, I will admit that. I only call them because I know the department around here handles the ministerial alliance. The police department will give them a few vouchers for food, lodging and gas if need be. Plus, they will call an aid worker (excuse me, we dispatchers will call the aid worker) from a local homeless alliance who will also take them out for a meal at McDonalds and try to work out a few options.
I figure that in my town, getting the vouchers might be all they get that day.

2. What I don't understand:
The classic argument about socialism from idiots:

Fine, give all you paycheck to the government. You'll be really happy about it when you can't afford emergency surgery for your kids.

I think this was used in Donnie Darko by the dad? It's so stupid.

You won't NEED to afford health care, it will be PROVIDED BY THE STATE!

Idiots.

As John Lennon (I think) said (and I paraphrase) - I like socialism if it means my Granny gets her teeth fixed for free.

9. Unfortunately
There will always be assholes like this out there. They think any social program that's a good thing & benefits society is the same as old communism in the USSR.

10. It's because people don't understand what 'socialism' is:
Socialism is often where people don't realise such as: mass transit, public highways, free education, environmental protection. These are things people take for granted at the same time as they denounce socialism. Social programs like these are socialist. But they don't understand what socialism is, they think it's "something to do with Russia".

Socialism at it's greatest means universal healthcare, free dental insurance, tax credits for low-income families to help make work pay, representative government, gender equality, civil rights, civil liberties, freedom from state oppression, politically-impartial media, public service broadcasting and much more.

In my opinion, it's worth paying higher taxes for. You get a lot back.
