The olive appreciation thread. What's your favorite?
Now I'm not talking about the big, black rubbery things you put on your fingers at Thanksgiving, or the little green salty ones you put in your Martini. I'm talking about kalamatas, nicoise, alfonsos, almond-stuffed, garlic-stuffed, pepper-stuffed, etc. I just had an incredible sicilan olive and pepper salad that inspired this thread!

So what's your favorite? Mine? French nicoise. Wonderful, flavorful little nuggets from heaven.

...the year and a half I spent in Greece while in the Air Force spoiled me for life! I can never go back to inferior olives! Never!

7. Two problems:

1) who knows the names of olives? and 2) who could choose? They're all so good. I love good quality green olives the best I think. Almond stuffed, garlic stuffed, love 'em. I had some really big Spanish (I think) green olives once that were some of the best I've had.

Nowadays the only olives I can afford to eat are the ones from the 99 cent store. They come in a plastic pouch. Mind you, they are excellent: very spicy hot and very garlicky.

God, send me a job. drool....

11. I agree about the "who can chose?" part
my local supermarket has a mediterranian bar that rocks. I'm like a kid in a candy store, and I usually spend more than I'm planning on spending. But man, they're all so good! I should watch my spending myself. I recently became unemployed (not a bad thing). My olive habit can leave me fat and poor if I'm not careful.

you & me, bud. never met an olive that wasn't delicious. queens are may fave, though, as i'm quite plebian. do prefer w/seeds intacto, as machine-mushing them seems to rob flavor.
