11. Newest Mac operating system
Edited on Tue May-03-05 01:43 AM by Awsi Dooger
10.4, code named Tiger.

That's the gimmick with Mac OSX, identifying with hip and fast jungle beasts. OS 10.2 was Jaguar, OS 10.3 was Panther.

3. Ordered it, but it is not here yet.
I have to be very cautious about upgrading as I use this system in "production" and I cannot break anything that now works.

9. Faster booting, faster User Interface, faster launching. . .
I kid you not. Others have reported it too. . .they have obviously done some optimization since Panther, and I was pretty happy w the speed of that OS.

7. It ROCKS!
I love the little spotlight feature. Now I can be messy with file organization and STILL find things. WOW!

8. Haven't installed mine yet
Looking forward to it though. I'm looking forward to Dashboard stuff. I could probably set something up to check my posts on DU and let me know if anyone has responded.

13. One question:
What is the footprint, i.e. hard drive space of a typical install? My dualie desktop is fine with multiple HDs, but my iBook with a 30 GB hard drive is already down to 4 GB remaining. I managed to save tons of space by selecting custom install and getting rid of all the printer drivers and foreign languages I didn't need in Panther. I assume that's still possible with Tiger.

I'll wait a few months, as always, until I stumble upon a great deal via eBay or one of the Mac-specific sites. DealMac.com will let me know...
