Rush Limbaugh says 'Mac OS X Tiger Rocks
Rush Limbaugh says 'Mac OS X Tiger Rocks

Rush Limbaugh has talked Apple , the Macintosh platform, .Mac, and Mac OS X on his radio show and posted the following text along with a direct link to Apple.com's Mac OS X Tiger page on RushLimbaugh.com's "On The Cutting Edge..." section:

Mac OS X Tiger Rocks
Free Rush advertisement for Mac. Listen up, Apple people...

Limbaugh says, among other things, "I'm sorry you Windows people, but you might as well be back in the Stone Age here."

Trust us, Steve Jobs' Apple didn't pay Limbaugh a cent for this advertising. Limbaugh is just a Mac user doing the routine evangelism. Fortunately for Apple, Mac user Limbaugh spreads the word to 20+ million listeners every time he praises Apple and the Mac!

The link to the audio file (WMA, of all things!) is located near the bottom right of RushLimbaugh.com (look for the Mac OS X Tiger box photo) here.

5. Err -- Bill Gates contributed HEAVILY to George W. Bush,
especially in 2000, with extra during the Florida recount. In return, Bu$h gave Gates a sweetheart settlement in the Microsoft antitrust case. Steve Jobs & Steve Woz both contributed to Gore then Kerry.

It's not Apple's fault that Limpbaugh likes the Mac.

I use a Mac and a Linux box myself.

13. And yet again I say that the original post may be the best argument
yet to stick with Windows. The logic goes thusly: Limbaugh is a drugged up idiot. He has little to no taste in anything. Thus, knowing he likes something is a pretty good reason to steer clear of it, as his opinion os wrong 99.999% of the time.

I pump gas into my car and all the oil companies donated to Chimpie boy, I'm not going to stop driving. Why? because my livelihood depends on it. Likewise, I'm not going to stop using windows because Bill Gates donated money to Bush. Why? Because my livelihood revolves around Windows and Windows based products.

I use what works. Nothing Limbaugh has ever recommended works.

19. Limbot has used macs for a long time; so has Al Gore and many other
dems.

Glad windows is so good to you -- it can be quite lucrative to support it. I use both platforms and prefer macs for many reasons. . .but whatever works for you!

34. I don't see him recommending a swimming pool over other
forms of swimming like the ocean or a river :). Come to think of it, I'd still pick the river or the ocean over his recommendation if he did recommend a pool.

most likely that is because of Reed's close ties to the Theocrats and neo cons.

29. when bush hired Ralph Reed, he dumped his
Mac and got a Dell laptop. (Michael Dell, a big bush supporter)

Rush is "troubled" by Jobs' politics and that Gore is on the Board of Directors of Apple.

OSX is so good, it transcends politics.

More on Reed: At the time he was "volunteering" for bush, he was on the payroll of Enron and Microsoft.

6. If he wore a black turtleneck and sipped lattes
...this might be interesting.

Otherwise... non-issue like the rest of his schtick which is par for the course.

A real issue is what the 'left' commentators refuse to talk about. They are not doing any heavy lifting of ideas: Just talk about bills and court cases using unspoken assumptions that no one gets anymore.

The desparity is so wide, even on DU the conservative commentators seem to get better ratings.

7. I've always hated Fisher-Price Apple products
I didn't really need another reason to, but a Limbaugh endorsement just reinforces it.

Everything, and I mean, EVERYTHING that spews from his festering piehole is a lie, including his promotion of cheesy Apple crap.

28. BRILLIANT analogy you provided
They are the Emperor Without Clothes of computers. People like bright shiny things with pretty knobs and colors. Ooo! Cool graphics! No memory, and no practical applications unless you are an amateur home movie maker.

I have played around enough with Macs to know what crap they are. They freeze up and crash with the best (or worst) of 'em.

15. then you are cutting off your nose to spite your face
because Apple makes some very good products that are competively priced and blow everything else out of the water in terms of usability.

But you hate Apple from the bottom of your soul, worse than the neocons, and with all your being, etc etc. I guess Apple ran over your dog or something!

21. ZW? What are u talking about?
I have been working w/ Macs and PCs since 1985 and I can tell you it's the PCs that have a real problem. Always crashing, no one knows how to repair them and then of course, the components are from a bunch of other countries.

Puhleeze..intimating that the Mac is a "toy" is an old old argument that does not hold weight anymore. PCs use Windows, but they are DOS-BASED...talk about memory hogs.

I thought this Mac/PC argument was over. Go ask NASA and many, many physicians that Macs are toys. Don't think they would agree.

When was the last time u used a Mac? 1985?

Even then it was much more reliable than PCs. Now, I am working on a Dell as I write this and of course, just had it repaired. Viruses love PCs..don't like Macs...too hard to infiltrate and why bother...they are only toys right?

Just bought a Mac Mini...hey ZW, were u the one who "rained on my parade" when I posted my purchase, saying I got ripped off? That hurt me a lot, bec I am disable now and it was my first major purchase in 2 years. Haven't set it up bec I have not been feeling well.

If you are nice I will let you play with my toy! <grin>

I say use whatever computer you want...but don't start that old, old
mac/pc argument.

Old Arguments:
Mac is a toy
Macs aren't compatible w/ anything
Macs are just for graphics
Mac are SO expensive (yeah Cadillacs cost more)

I still have a Cube and an old PowerBook that are still kicking.

Comeone, give this lady a break...u don't seem mean-spirited.

16. Review: Mac Os X Steps Ahead of Windows
One of many out there praising Tiger.

http://apnews.excite.com/article/20050428/D89O6EV00.html

<snip>

Tired of waiting while your PC slowly scours its hard drive for a document you stashed somewhere six months ago? Sick of having to change how you work to conform with the computer's rigid way of organizing files? Bored with the flat look of the desktop's graphics?

Microsoft's next-generation operating system for Windows, code-named Longhorn, is supposed to address such digital woes. It may even be released in time for Christmas 2006.

But if you've got a Macintosh computer, or plan to buy one, those issues have been tackled. They're amply addressed in the latest update of Mac OS X, dubbed "Tiger," goes on sale Friday.

Despite a much smaller user base, Mac OS X has been steps ahead of Windows on key fronts since its first release in 2001. It's got more advanced and polished graphics. It's less prone to malicious attacks. And Macs look better than nearly all Windows PCs.

22. Mossberg, WSJ: "Tiger Leaps Out Front"
http://ptech.wsj.com/ptech.html

<snip>

Overall, Tiger is the best and most advanced personal computer operating system on the market, despite a few drawbacks. It leaves Windows XP in the dust.

It also adds to the Mac's general superiority over typical Windows computers as the best choice for average consumers doing the most common computing tasks. Apple's hardware already was the best in the business, and Mac OS X has, so far, escaped the virus and spyware problems that plague Windows.

The new Apple system boasts some key capabilities Microsoft won't introduce for another 18 months or so, when it finally rolls out its long-awaited next version of Windows, code-named Longhorn. Chief among these is the integrated, universal search. A second is "virtual folders," called Smart Folders by Apple, which can automatically scoop up files that meet criteria you set.

prowling the earth."

But with apologies to Mac-bashers everywhere, Spotlight changes everything. Tiger is the classiest version of Mac OS X ever and, by many measures, the most secure, stable and satisfying consumer operating system prowling the earth.
