Is there a way to screen cute girls for liberal tendencies
before asking them out?

I ask this only because it is a great waste of time and effort to network, get intro'd, flirt, buy drinks, etc. only to find out on date #3 that they are Reich-wing freakjobs that give * the reacharound...

I wish there was a way to make sure the woman I am eyeing as the future potential Mrs. O'Beans was a lefty.

Maybe I am just lazy and whining though.

She's a Republican.

3. I probably mistake the dead glaze for drunken stupor
But that is a decent indicator.

Wish we could make all the freeperettes wear stickpins or something though.

quickest way I know of.

7. I guess I have always thought that
asking political questions before the first date was too forward.

Maybe I need to rethink this strategy.

16. Try to be lighthearted about the question....
Don't ask "Did you vote for that fuckwad dumbass idiot Bush for president"

Instead just be non-chalant like - "So did you get out to vote in 2004?" If she starts raving about Bush then be polite and remember your appointment for root canal that you have in 30 minutes.

Good Luck

30. or "Did you see Bush's press conference the other night?"
or reference some other current event.

I mean...what's wrong with asking those kinds of questions?

9. well,
You just described approximately 0.03771% of the women in the DFW metroplex. Maybe there just aren't that many of them here.

I do agree that beads and makeup are good choices though.

Someone should start a Dems-only dance club down here.

29. Gees, I didn't know you lived *there*!
I'd say move out of Texas (but don't come to Nashville either) and your chances of meeting a nice progressive girl will vastly improve.

28. I wear makeup (especially in the summer-I always sunburn)
I do not wear black lipstick.
I wear clothes that fit well.
I don't necessarily wear brand name clothing, but I do tend to shop for quality (most of my work clothes come from consignment shops because I can get good quality for a cheaper price).
My jewerly is simple (gold or silver, a few pearls and a few gems that I have had over the years).
I only wear tye-dye at home. Rarely do you see me in sandals.

But I will agree w/ the smile. I smile at everyone all the time.
And I do have a rather small car.
Otherwise, I don't fit the rest of the profile.

8. Actaully you should know
right away.....

if the only conversation they are capable of maintaining is about:

hair care
nail polish/manicure/pedacure
stain removal, laundry detergents or other housecleaning chores
cooking
If they say that motherhood is a woman's natural calling

well, you get the picture...anything that sounds stepfordish is a dead giveaway....

I filter out all "conservative" and "republican" keywords. Your loss ladies. ;)

11. If they are obseesed (as in constantly fiddling with) their hair and makeu
they aren't LW.

I'm a bit of a glamourpuss myself--always try to dress to the nines and such, but once I'm dressed, I don't give it a second thought.

If my hair gets maessy, more's the better.

I guarantee it.

Another dead giveaway: how fake are the fingernails? I've never known a LW woman, even a glamourpuss like me, to have long nails.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it has been my experience from years back.

22. In general, you might be right, but I've known plenty of LW women
with long fingernails... and ones who fuss with their appearance constantly. In fact, I was in a relationship with one like that for three years.

I think the "who did you vote for" approach is probably more foolproof.

24. Are fake nails Left or Right?
My wife wants long nails, but has problems with them, so a number of hers are fake.

Is she a right winger in disguise? Am I living an "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers" nighmare? Will I awake tonight to cravings for Hannity re-runs?

:wow:

especially when I was a receptionist. I no longer have them now because they cost too much to keep up.

And I have always been a liberal.

13. www.democraticsingles.com
www.democraticsingles.com

Not the busiest singles site on the net, but I'm hoping it catches on.

I know how you feel. I don't want to bother with a first date, only to find out there's no way I can be involved with the guy. So, as much as I hate bringing up politics to people I just met, I am going to make it a policy that if I meet a guy, and we hit it off, that question WILL be asked before I invest any time getting to know him.

15. I have no way of telling
I really dont place a litmus test on girls I like and whatever either, I had a crush on a girl and found out she was a republican only mid year, and I was absolutely cool with that since she knew my political beliefs and respected them totally, and we got along on other things as well. Though I understand you guys who like left wing people only, its just not my major litmus test, now my primary crush is definely a LWer.

23. Some things to insert into conversation?
Like, "more unbearable than Sean Hannity" when talking about a bad singer in American Idol, or "more ghoulish than Ann Coulter" when talking about a former teacher. Keep subject of conversation NOT politics.

33. Does she like any creative things--music/art/movies/books. Dead giveaway.
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 05:21 PM by tjdee
That, IMO, works 99% of the time.

If you're hearing "I don't really listen to music" or "I like Toby Keith", chances are she's a conservative.

If you're hearing she likes Kill Bill and Jay-Z, you're talking to a liberal.

The arts aren't Republican strong points. Every now and then you'll get a Ted Nugent (snicker) or a Gary Sinise ( :( ), but...
