A couple of months ago, I get a pre approved offer from capitol one. It looks fairly decent, pre-approved for 4000 dollars, balance transfers at 0% for a year, nothing fishy in the fine print, shitty rate, but I wasn't planning on actually using it for anything but transferring a couple balances, and paying them off over the next three months.
Well. I get the card, and transfer a couple of outstanding balances from some other higher rate cards I had. Not huge transfers, about 1200 dollars and change off of a Visa I was getting ready to cancel, and about 400 off of a JCP card I used for xmas shopping. A week later I check my statements, and only 200 was taken off of each. I call customer:rofl: service. So after about a half hour of navigating that cluster-fuck of a phone tree:argh: getting transferred twice :eyes:and sitting on hold for ten or so minutes:boring: I finally get a real live person(thank you for calling Sanjay in Bombay, how may I abuse you today?).
I tell them the deal, and they proceed to tell me that I only have a limit of 400 dollars.:wtf: I tell them about the offer, and he tells me it must have been a typo, and they accidentally slipped an extra zero on the form :eyes:but if they want, they can run my credit again, and see if I get approved for the higher limit. What a deal! :woohoo:all I have to do is give all my personal info to some stranger in a third world call center over an unencrypted phone line.:dilemma: So anyhow, I like my identity to belong only to me, so I decline. I write C-1 a check for the entire amount the following week, and figure when I get around to it I'll call them up that great call center again :banghead: and cancel the card.
Ok, fast forward a month and a half. I get busy and forget that I have the card:boring: This morning I get an email from them that I am two weeks late on my payment of.................$0.00. :spank: So I call customer:rofl: service navigate the phone tree:argh: get put on hold :boring: and hook up with Bombay again, to cancel the card."Yes, can you cancel the card please? Yes, Cancel it...No I mean CANCEL it...no I don't want to do a survey...NO I don't need a special offer....LOOK I DON'T WANT YOUR GOD DAMN CARD ANYMORE!!!!!!!!":argh:
SO anyhoo, I look at the email I got from them, and notice that it is not an auto-generated, and I can actually do a reply. Nothing big or snotty, just: "Thanks for the email. It was unnecessary since I have a zero dollar balance, but you did remind me that I need to call your service center and cancel the card. By the way, David Spade sucks."
