DU Road Warriors Check in...
What are your schedules? Random or depart Monday - return Thurs
Where do you rent your rides? What's your required rental car agency?
Favorite Rental car?
Favorite Hotel chains?
How do you survive life on the road?

Today I'm in Oakland Park KS.
I'm a 345 Leaving Mondays return home Thursdays. 3 days away from home - 4 nites home. I can't remember what the 5 is for.
I am required to rent from Hertz.
I have a Mustang on my profile required Sirius second.
Window seats and since I'm in Atlanta I fly Delta 99.9% of the time.
I like Hampton Inns. If I had my dream hotel I'd do Westin all the time.
How do I survive life on the road? I check out the hotels with the best cable. That usually means Marriott Hotels are out. The hotel's must have wireless if they don't I carry my own travel wireless router.

1. Last summer I logged over 15,000 miles

Driving from Seattle to D.C. via No. Dakota and Chicago. Then back to Seattle via Chicago. Back in Seattle we drove down to No. California and back to Seattle. And then in Feb I drove from Seattle to D.C. in five days, that was another four or five thousand miles.
I like Motel 6 because it is cheap and it is in and out. On extended road trips we camp out. But the best vehicle is with out a doubt any kind of Toyota that gets good gas mileage. We survive by checking out every little place we drive through. Even if it is a one horse town, reading about the local history, and finding local off the beaten path landmarks.

5. I've been a road warrior for years
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 10:56 AM by Kathy in Cambridge
but now most of my travel is in the Northeast and Midwest. I used to do international travel and a lot more national travel.

I usually stay in Marriott Courtyards because they have free wireless. All I require for a hotel stay is comfort, room service and free wireless. I have lots of Marriott points, and also lots of Starwood points. I try to stay in a Starwood whenever possible, since they are a Blue company, but often their prices don't past muster with the finance department. My FAVORITE hotels are the W Hotels (part of Starwood), but they are pretty pricey.

I use Thrifty Car Rental, though I used to use Hertz. Hertz is WAY more expensive than other rental car companies, even with the perks I used to get as a #1 Gold Member.

I fly United mostly, and American. I have been flying JetBlue and AirTran and find their service much better than the two big guys. I flew JetBlue to the West Coast twice for less than $200. They have great prices.

This week I have local Boston area appointments, and one in Hartford. Most of my time is spent in NJ and NYC.
