YO BOSTON DUers: Looks like the Sunday thing isn't happening
Getting late word from pretty much everyone that folks are not going to make it down to the Squealing Pig today. So if you're still here, make other plans and enjoy our fair city, which is so way better than Chicago.

4. There's about an inch and a half leftq
of the Herradora. Might have something to do with it.

17. That'll do it every time. Thanks for the reminder about
Randolph; the card I wrote his name on did survive the 4 AM monsoon going from your place to the hotel.

7. Did Carl Sandburg write about Boston? Nooooooooooooo!!!!
CHICAGO

HOG Butcher for the World,
Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat,
Player with Railroads and the Nation's Freight Handler;
Stormy, husky, brawling,
City of the Big Shoulders:

They tell me you are wicked and I believe them, for I
have seen your painted women under the gas lamps
luring the farm boys.
And they tell me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it
is true I have seen the gunman kill and go free to
kill again.
And they tell me you are brutal and my reply is: On the
faces of women and children I have seen the marks
of wanton hunger.
And having answered so I turn once more to those who
sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer
and say to them:
Come and show me another city with lifted head singing
so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning.
Flinging magnetic curses amid the toil of piling job on
job, here is a tall bold slugger set vivid against the
little soft cities;

Fierce as a dog with tongue lapping for action, cunning
as a savage pitted against the wilderness,
Bareheaded,
Shoveling,
Wrecking,
Planning,
Building, breaking, rebuilding,
Under the smoke, dust all over his mouth, laughing with
white teeth,
Under the terrible burden of destiny laughing as a young
man laughs,
Laughing even as an ignorant fighter laughs who has
never lost a battle,
Bragging and laughing that under his wrist is the pulse.
and under his ribs the heart of the people,
Laughing!
Laughing the stormy, husky, brawling laughter of
Youth, half-naked, sweating, proud to be Hog
Butcher, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with
Railroads and Freight Handler to the Nation.

Now this could only happen to a guy like me
And only happen in a town like this
So may I say to each of you most gratefully
As I throw each one of you a kiss

This is my kind of town, chicago is
My kind of town, chicago is
My kind of people too
People who smile at you

And each time I roam, chicago is
Calling me home, chicago is
Why I just brim like a cloud
It’s my kind of town

My kind of town, chicago is
My kind of town, chicago is
My kind of razzmatazz
And it has, all that jazz

And each time I leave, chicago is
Tuggin my sleeve, chicago is
The wrigley building, chicago is
The union stockyard, chicago is
One town that won’t let you down
It’s my kind of town

10. I was born in New England
We just bought a house in New England.

We'll be moving back to New England soon.

I LOVE Boston.

But.....

Chicago is so way better than Boston.

Sorry - just too much great stuff in Chicago.

Even though I would never want to live there. :)

15. Bostonians are great folks !
While out on a bus ride today - I saw the people of Boston really helping one another.

An elderly gentleman boarded the #66 line and not only did someone get up to give their seat to him but when the driver started on her way before he had reached his seat other passengers kept him from falling and assisted him safely along his way.

How do the people in Chicago treat each other?

18. Well...
Michael (my husband, aka BatBoy) helped a lost elderly Asian tourist find her hotel when we were downtown in the Loop this afternoon.

I'm sure the people of both Chicago and Boston are kind to elderly people. Perhaps it's time we stop implying that one city has nicer residents or better Democrats, etc., etc., than the other. 'cause it's getting really tiresome.
