i plan to use my computer as my 'stereo'.

gonna rip a bunch of CDs to the HD. should i just use WMP for the player? or are there better or more suitible programs? (preferbly free)

any other suggestion in regard to using a computer as the major source of tunage at home would be appreciated.

1. There are better programs

WinAmp is a very good one and doesn't kill your system like WMP.

Or rather, they have a free version and a version which costs. The only difference is the pro version rips and burns CD's. You didn't seem interested in that portion.

Its free, and a bit more flexible, and has better EQ options than WMP, IMHO.

you might want to check Audacity, EAC, and maybe some other stuff here:
