Does anyone in DU own an iPod?
Which one, what do you think of it and what do you use it for?

5. where'd you buy it?
I got mine at Comp USA and bought an extended warranty so if anything happens to it Apple (by way of Comp USA) will either fix it or give me a new one. since the one I have (15 Gb) is now discontinued I'd get the newer 20 Gb model that replaced it.

3. I've got a (discontinued) 15 Gb one
I got it right when the second generation of iPods came out towards the beginning of the summer.

I use Macs and haven't had any problems with it, and neither has my girlfriend who uses PCs.

6. That's the one I have
Other than a couple of minor bugs, I've loved it.
I use it mainly in the car (I use a cassette adaptor which sounds very good); no messing with stacks of CD's.
I wish it had a real playlist feature instead of "playlist on the go" (which resets itself everytime you connect to the Mac).
I keep mine on shuffle; it loves choosing Led Zeppelin even though Zeppelin is a fraction of one percent of my total library. Hmmmm.

10. We have a 30GB and a 40GB.
We love them both, and have about 2/3 of our CD library converted
over to iTunes AAC files so far.

By the way, if it permanently says "Do not disconnect" whenever you
dock it to a Mac, it may be mounting to the desktop as a FireWire
disk drive. If you have the preference set to do that, then that
semi-permanent "Do not disconnect" message is normal behavior in
that mode.

The iPods are fine devices; they're certainly one of the best
music players around, and it's very cool to have a 40GB transportable
data device in your shirt pocket.

11. I have a question...
Has anyone seen the new iPod commercial with the silhouettes dancing up against the pastel colors? And the hip-hop/reggae guy doing the vocals? Now...is it just me, or does he say "shake that tittie" at the end?
I'd really appreciate some feedback on this.

13. shake that thing
I think, if I'm imagining this correctly, you're thinking of Sean Paul, a jamaican rapper/hip hop guy.

He's saying "shake that thing."

12. I have one of the originals, and I love it!
It's been a blessing. I take it everywhere, and it allows me to catch up on my listening. (I'm a serious live recording collector.) Haven't had a single problem with it, except the Firewire cable provided with it failed (understandable, given the frequent disconnecting/reconnecting for updates and recharging).

One of my students recently got one of the second-generation iPods. I'm insanely jealous. Of course, his family has more money than God.

16. Pardon my ignorance
Do you have to be a MAC user to use an iPod?

They are MP3 players, right?
