What are the boundries? I'm planning on ditching Rev in there - her parents want me to toughen her up.

3. I'll second that but I doubt she'd do it
Not just because of the people who hate the Yankees but because she herself hates them too.

6. You mean South Boston
there is no neighborhood called the south side. Drop her in a South Boston Irish bar and she'll get her ass kicked!

7. Real estate is too expensive-the sleaze is gone from downtown
the area is home to the new Ritz Carlton and Ritz Carlton towers (where some of the Red Sox live).

10. Some people have said to avoid the area
So it's not a problem? Probably wouldn't compete with the Downtown Lower Eastside in Vancouver anyway (worst neighbourhood in Canada)

20. It's not a good idea to walk downtown at night, but during the day it's
fine.

Most of the crime is in the outer neighborhoods, but still watch your belongings like in any big city. Lots of high school kids hang out in Downtown Crossing where you will probably go to shop. Part of the Freedom trail is there too.

27. Well, no, it can't be a problem anymore
if it's not there anymore, though the yuppies can annoy you into a hell of a migraine.

Besides, you want sleaze, you're going to be in the middle of a crowd of DUers, with alcohol and bowling pins in the mix to boot; what more could you want from sleaze?

PS: They're talking about you, I think, in another Boston thread.

30. I have never been in a neighborhood that scuzzy in my life
We were in Vancouver last summer and stayed at the Delta Vancouver Suites which were very nice, but that neighborhood is disgusting. And I grew up in NYC in th mid 70s when NY was pretty bad. Downtown Vancouver East side is an abomination. I really didn't expect any of Canada to be that bad- I figured you guys had real social services.

There are alot of very aggressive very strung out people down there.

I lived in Boston for 3 years- the Combat zone was the red light district but being a good girl I didn't hang out there- I don't even remember exactly where it was, just that it was not too far from Chinatown.

(The Vancouver Chinatown is not too far from that crappy neighborhood too)

but now that's some high-end real estate.
