People, I'm concerned. No, I'm scared.
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 09:03 PM by Archae
I take Erin, my tabby male here:

To get "the snip" in the morning.

I know, it's routine, they do it so often, but I'm still bothered.
It's been a little over a year since I lost my gorgeous black female cat Salem to kidney failure.

1. I understand the way you feel..
We had a baby chihuahua die on us, and when we got our next two we were (and still are) way overprotective. It's only natural.

4. Let me put your mind at ease
Males are less of a drill than females. He will go, get the two-brick treatment, and be home in no time. He will be slightly pissed off, and then he will be running round the house like it never happened. And he will be more cuddly in the long haul!

6. I know the feeling.
My little dog is going in for a teeth cleaning tomorrow. I always get worried when anaesthesia is involved, but especially as they get older. He's 15. Almost certainly your kid and mine will both come through fine, but it's still worrisome.

7. He looks fat and sassy/don't worry he'll be fine...
I have three cats and two were sickly abandoned ferals that I took in as kittens (they both have heart murmors)

I was very worried when they were fixed because of the heart situation and they both came through it fine (pissed but healthy lol)

The unhealthier of the two had a little rougher recovery but he came through it OK.

9. sleep well, he'll do great
One of my friends is involved in a spay/neuter program, and it works really, really well. It isn't just for your convenience, it really helps the psychology of male cats in addition to preventing unwanted kittens from popping up around the neighborhood.

You are doing a good thing, and your sweetie will be just fine and happier than ever once it's over.

10. I'm sure he'll be right
No need to worry, though I know what you're feeling. I took my little gal kitty Devon and got her "fixed" today. After a few hours of wooziness and stumbling around a bit when she tried to walk (she kept trying to walk and I kept trying to get her to sit still!) she seems to be feeling much better. I know how you feel, though; I was worried about her, for no real reason except that I feel closer to her than any pet I've ever had and it would make me very, very sad if anything happened to her. But it's something that needed to be done, so I figure it'll be worth it in the long run.
