Everyone who's planing on being in Boston this weekend, post a pic...
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 05:44 PM by Longgrain
Let's see a recent picture of yourself, so we can all recognize each other when we meet (not that most of us wouldn't anyways).

Here's my most recent pic, tho I won't have the beard this weekend.

My real name is Peter BTW...

Now who else?

1. Alas, I won't be there...Maybe someday...
You look great...I hope Miss Sugar Smack will be there. I'll watch for fireworks in that case. Should be visible even on the West coast! Hope you have a terrific time!

13. Hey, Miss California Peggy!!
:hi:

I wish I could be at the meetup too, but I'm telling you, I WISH I WAS IN CA instead of CAckalackee!!

My brother lives in San Fran, you see. He took this picture while we explored Monterey. Where in beautiful, sunny CA are you?

PS- I don't think I've talked to you but once, but from what I know about you, you are a sweet, living doll.

-And thanks for being so.

26. Hehehe-
You know, I'd be up there in a SECOND if I wasn't going on this NC beach trip with 3 of my closest girlfriends. We have a house, and groceries, Scrabble, our notebooks, whiskey, and each other. It's supposed to rain the entire time we're there, but we really don't give a fat fuck. I will miss you, and the pic is one of those "I'll be there in spirit" gestures. Genuinely.

131. Hey, LG, I can see why you got so excited...
She IS a sassy-looking one, isn't she?

And don't be afraid to actually go ahead and send her an airplane ticket; that's how I got the then-future Mrs R out to Connecticut from California after only knowing her for a short while...15 years later and we're still going strong.

Sometimes you just gotta lay down all your Jacksons and roll the dice...

29. My dear Sugar Smack! talk about living dolls; takes one to know one, I
always say. Thank you so much! Monterey is one of my most favorite Places in California. I live in SoCal, in a little yuppie burg called Manhattan Beach. We're (the town) right next door on the south side of LAX! San Francisco is a wonderful town, one of my all-time favorites.

I think you should take up Longgrain's offer, and go to the Boston meet-up. You two need some serious time together, and soon...

Thank you for appreciating me...I hardly deserve such compliments, but I'll accept them...

You're just bringing back memories! I love this, this is great! My brother, who's like a twin to me, took me on the San Francisco Spree I'll never forget! He's the best host EVER! You really are a nice one, CA Peggy! You are lovely.

Longgrain isn't really all that nice, actually. He almost never PMs me. He keeps me in a closet, and lures me out with cream puffs on a plate, every once in a while. And he makes me call him "Gustav".

If you want to talk about California, or earthquakes. or news, or ways to get around the news, please PM me sometime. Either that, or I'll PM you. I think you're fantastic.

Once, I peeked at the ATA forum, and I thought I saw you asking for directions on how to post a pic. Well, I figured it out after a bunch of errors and I'll share it with you if you need it.

Yours for the next thousand years,

Last time I looked, at least forty people checked in, and said they would be in Boston this weekend.

But we sure had a hell of a good time.

That give you enough to go on? If not, just ask around the bar for the tall guy with the bad attitude.

63. The white one? It's the Canon 100-400 zoom with
the image stabilizer and Fluorite elements. Costs an arm and a firstborn, by the way.

Put it on a digital body and with the 1.6 correction factor and a 2x teleconverter, you have a 12800 mm lens (though f/11) that you can hand hold! Sorta.

maybe just near or outside, that place, and there were these other people, damn fine looking women, I don't forget those, and they were, you know, there were quite a few of them, and they had those drinks, you know, and there may have been one or six of the drinks that I might have had...GODDAM COMMIES! Now I remember, there were goddam commies all over the walls of the place, and some of them may have even been at the tables, but I couldn't tell for sure, but I'll tell you one thing, I remember keeping a real good eye out in case they tried to slip me any kind of drugs, which as I recall nobody ended up doing, more's the pity...

Just keep your eye on the tall, sneaky son of a bitch who took that picture. I remember seeing him...he looked like a goddam commie to me, and I should know.

53. So I'm NOT crazy. Or maybe I am, but you are too,
but the goddam commies were watching us so we couldn't make a move anyway, so it was that dude, was it, you know I thought it was him all along, though many didn't agree, even after I made my case so clear that even the commies on the walls couldn't shut me up, tried, though, didn't they, in their sneaky way, and you're right, it was the shirt, wasn't it, Jesus, you should have clued me in on that a little sooner if you were any kind of a real friend, because of all the trouble and vandalism it would have saved us, or was that just me?

I mean, I'm crazy too, but even if you'd known about the shirt, you know? It still wouldn't have saved us the trouble. Now, if you'd known ahead of time about that girl, now that, that would have been a different story. Then she wouldn't have told that dude and then the whole thing just wouldn't have... but anyway, they didn't shut you up, so it's ok, and next time, we'll find out first which girl it's going to be, and about the dude, and so it's ok.

56. So, you think it's OK, do you?
You just had to bring the girl into it, didn't you, not that any of it was her fault, after all, though I might be cutting her a lot more slack than she deserves, what with those eyes of hers, even granted that I don't know how she could have been sure of what a sucker I am for that type of thing, not giving me any break whatsoever for being old and feeble (but don't tell that dude you know this, because what he doesn't know could definitely hurt him and it will, if you know what I mean and I think you do), and I guarantee you that the shirt will be no factor whatsoever in the final outcome.

Which girl do you think it will be, anyway? Couldn't possibly be the same one, or could it? You promised we'd figure it out first the next time, and I have it in writing, so no weaseling out of it for you, young lady. You owe me this one, because you didn't tell me that they told you the last time until it was WAY too late for either of us, though I took the worst hit of all. Let this be a lesson to you.

And if that husband of yours tries to interfere, we're just going to have to ply him with drinks until we can see if the shirt fits, won't we? And if it does, we'll know.

67. Wallet? Who needs a wallet?
I'll just pick that dude's pocket, and he won't even know what hit him until the bouncers get there (thereby instantly leveling the old playing field, with him planted firmly in the middle of it for everyone to see and mock), and the girl will contribute too, you can bet your bottom dollar on that, at least after we figure out exactly which girl it's going to be, and if you're any kind of friend at all you'll keep a sharp lookout this time and tell me which girl it is before the accusations start flying, baseless though they may be, because I have a deep and cloudy suspicion that the girl might be that yver one this time, you know, the one with the cryptic moniker and the long-distance airline ticket, actually, we need to make sure that's tickets plural because there may be something going on that we don't know about but should, but you have to remember that I'm counting on you not to punk out on me if it turns out that the shirt does indeed fit, because I'll need all the help I can get and have damn few friends as it is, as if things weren't bad enough already what with the goddam commies shielding the girl's identity for far too long and all. I wonder what's really in it for them?

85. Good point, good point.
That's true, that dude does seem to be rollin'.... The girl definitely could be that yvr girl, all her shenanigans about plane tickets and changing flights and spending hours just hanging around god-knows-where on her way down, who knows what she's doing there, or who she's talking to. Those damn commies are everywhere, she could be meeting them at the airports, you never know. And this time I won't punk out, even if the shirt fits, although gods help us all if it does, you know what that's gonna mean. And damn, you do have to wonder what's in it for the commies, because otherwise, all this headache and problems and what the hell is it all for, anyway?

91. You're asking ME what the hell it's all for?
Actually, that's not a bad idea on your part because, although very few people know and none of them are saying, I do happen to be one of them at least on occasion, and I suspect that you might be one also, but because if nobody's talking, well, that does make communication kind of difficult, doesn't it?

Not sure about that yver girl, if she really is one, an yver I mean, much less THE one, the TRUE yver, I mean has anyone ever seen her in the same room as oh, let's just say, Jenna Bush, which would be a real riot, but highly dubious given the circumstances, but it could be so even so, and because of that I'll be depending on you more than ever, if you have even a shred of decency left, and I know you do, much more than a shred actually, if I'm not mistaken and I don't think I am, because you're much more perceptive in picking up the nuances of both girls of all sorts, sometimes even before they know what they're up to, and that dude as well, because hey, you know we can't forget him nor let him stray from our basilisk gaze, because the goddam commies might slip him a note on the sly, which as you know they're awfuly good at, and it might even be a note that the girl we're thinking about could be transporting, or picking it up during one of her mysterious stops, and if this nightmare scenario plays out, the dude might very well ditch the shirt, probably in a place where it would cause the most collateral damage, and THEN how the hell are we going to find out if it indeed fits?

Your husband hasn't started any suspicious unannounced dieting lately, has he? Or conversely, begun pounding down Budweiser mixed in Carnation Instant Breakfast followed by multiple Double Whoppers with Cheese, has he? Of course, that in and of itself would not be a clue to the mystery of the THING, if that dude just mysteriously, for some odd reason, has started to do the same himself lately, not that I think he and your husband are in cahoots, notwithstanding the doubts I am starting to have about the girl.

But I keep foregetting, when you originally mentioned the dude, you commented not only on his shirt and parenthetically I think the THING as well, but also you cast some pretty dark aspersions on his hair if memory serves, though all it's been serving me lately has been wizened sardines on something resembling a bloated Triscuit, and you know when you cast aspersions on someone's hair they can have a tendency to stick, so we might have a leg up on the situation as long as nobody finds out.

I think I'm starting to see a pattern develop here.

95. OK, the pattern's developing even more, and
even though I know it probably wouldn't be wise, to say the least, for you to say anymore, given your circumstances, and I know how dire they indeed are, though you should give youself a lot of credit for staying the course for as long as you have.

Trust me, the knowledge is safe with me, and I'll bring it to you-know-where, and you'll be safe from retribution from you-know-who once you're up there and behind the counter.

And tell your husband that he's included, despite his prior duplicity, but only for this one time, though all bets are off if the you-know-what does indeed fit you-know-who (the other one, not the first one I mentioned).

105. It certainly is
I might be one of them, that's true, but hard to know. But I will definitely keep an eye on that girl, and the dude, too, because if he does drop the shirt, and the other dude picks it up, well then we are all just screwed. And even more so if the girl is in on the whole thing, because who knows, then she is off distracting you or me while they are moving the shirt around and then by the time we know what is going on, it's too late, and the shirt is gone, and damn them all.

As for my husband, there's been neither budweiser-pounding nor double-whopper scarfing, nor dieting, but still, maybe that isn't the plan, but there has been a lot of low-pitched laughing from his corner, but maybe the dude is just dieting to get down to his weight, instead of vice versa, and you know I hate to suspect that he could even possibly be in on it, but you never know with those commies and their damned mind-influence tricks and you never know who they've gotten to, even in your own family. But I think you're right that he can be in for this one, unless the you-know-what does indeed fit, and then all bets are off, indeed.

And as for the hair, well, I'll keep my mouth shut on that one, because you're right that the implications of that and our knowledge of it only go so far and that only helps until someone else finds out what it is we know, and so I'm just going to keep my eye out for this pattern that you're talking about. And if you bring the knowledge to you-know-where, and keep me safe from the you-know-who, then we may just survive to tell this tale in its entirety.

107. But who will we tell the tale to?
Edited on Wed Apr-20-05 09:55 PM by Redstone
It won't be the Swedes, that's for damn sure, yes, I know that they aren't actual goddam commies, but they're socialists aren't they, and although they don't have that funny alphabet with the backward Rs like the Russians do, being socialist is kinda Commie Lite, isn't it, sort of communists who drink Chablis wine in those fussy little glasses with the stems instead of vodka of uncertain provenance and even less windshield-washing capability from a dirty, cloudy, cracked shotglass, out in the alley, like a true commie would. At least that's ONE thing they get right.

You're starting to disturb me more than just a little bit with this slow release of the information you've been hoarding like the squirrels with their damn nuts up in my attic, just feeding me the tiny crumbs of knowledge in an agonizingly slow drip, drip, drip, drip, like the Chinese water torture of the kitchen faucet that I'm going to teach a lesson to in a few minutes, and we'll see how it likes meeting Mister Ball Peen face-to-face. NOW YOU TELL ME THERE'S ANOTHER DUDE???

I'll accept your reassurances about your husband, but only for now, and only because we don't know about the aspect of the fit yet, if indeed we ever get to know it at all, because as I said before, I've never seen you actually EAT any of those sweet, gelatinous fish, but I do know that the Swedes have used them to get to more than one person around here, some of them people you'd never suspect of such perfidy. I'm not naming names, because they know who they are, even if I don't.

I'll keep you safe from everything, that's a promise, as long as you alert me about the girl, which you've sworn so many times to do and do it right for once this time, and I damn sure hope you're not going to let me down on that one, though I don't think you will, especially now that you're looking for the pattern, which is out there, even though I don't blame your for not wanting to go public with the hair thing, which could have unintended consequences, especially given that it wouldn't be very photogenic or garner much sympathy with all those aspersions stuck to it...or would it?

Two dudes, two dudes instead of just the one who I knew about or at least thought I did or was beginning to on some level at least...I don't know about you, but as for me, just in my own mind, just speaking for myself, just in my own opinion and others may vary, which is fine for them but not necessarily for me, thank you very much anyway, I have some of my own right here, I had a sneaky feeling all along, just a hunch really, nothing concrete to go on, but you have to trust your gut on this sort of thing, that there were some suspiciously lingonberry-juice-stained fingerprints all over this one...

All bets may very well be off, but once we're up in that place and are able to scout the territory a bit, we may find it's not as dire a circumstance as it may seem. But the girl's the wildcard, as they tend to be, especially the ones with that certain allure to which I have alluded but won't again, at least where the Swedes can read it, for your good as well as mine, as you will no doubt find out in just a few days now, if we can handle this one as well as we did the last.

114. I'm fairly certain I'll recognize you, after talking with you so much
at the last meet up.

Can't wait! :hi:

121. Hi Rev, I'm sure I'll recognize you!
And I'll make sure I'll say hi, if you're not too busy flirting with John.

Great to see you, and see you face to face soon.

132. I already scraped off my beard as well, so I'd look less like the
