Sting Teaches Star-Struck Music Students
By Gelu Sulugiuc

CHICAGO (Reuters) - British singer Sting went back to the classroom this week, assuming the role of a musical mentor for a group of college students.

The one-time school teacher surprised students in a music composition class at the University of Illinois at Chicago, barging in with MTV cameras in tow to speak and jam with them on Monday.

This one-named, MTV-whoring, BASS playing suckass does not fool me. Jack White told him not to let his ass hit the door on the way out.

3. I don't get it either...Sting is an amazing musician and song writer.
What's the deal? How many of his platinum albums would it take to convince you that this guy can play??

The Police put out some amazing albums, and Sting's solo work has stood up pretty well. I don't get this "Sting isn't a musician" attitude.

2. Yeah, whatya got against sting
He's a competent musician. Decent enough composer. Seems to be an OK human being as far a causes go.

Now, I heard Gene Simmons is going to be teaching musically gifted kids how to rock. There is a non-musician if I ever heard of one.

5. he's also amazing in his social commentary.
Just a few days ago, I posted his lyrics to "Russians" (as a response to BouncyBall's post "They love their children."

Really.

Nice what he did for the students and all, though.

9. Sting is great
Jack White is good, but he'll will be gone in five years...so when he goes and talks to a bunch of 19-20year old college students, they won't have a clue

10. Can he read music?
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 06:07 PM by elperromagico
That helps in a music composition class. Trust me on that.

If he can't read music, his coming into a music composition class makes about as much sense as George W. Bush coming into a government class.

11. Quit talking about my husband that way
Sting is a far better musician than most anyone else on the charts right now.

Get over yourself. If you don't like him fine. But he is a great musician. And his politics are right on!!!
