Sugar Land, TX Parents to sue police for busting underage beer party.

Some Sugar Land parents say they're going to sue the police department for harassing their teenagers.

Police officers responded to a call about a loud party on Saturday night, and ticketed 37 underage teens for drinking alcohol. The teens admit some of them were drinking that night, but felt that officers went overboard.

(snip)

The Sugar Land police released this statement: "When officers arrived, several partygoers fled into the backyard. While inside the home, officers discovered 37 minors (all under 21 years of age) and a large amount of alcohol. An additional 15 or more other young people fled from the home and ran into the neighborhood."

Trying to weasel their way out of getting into trouble, just like their most famous resident, Tom DeLay.

2. Just to play devil's advocate
at least these kids were at someone's house and not out in public.

Ok that was my first thought.

4. Don't get me wrong.
I think forcing the states to adopt 21 as a drinking age was stupid as hell. Better to lower the drinking age to 16 and raise the driving age to 18, IMHO.

In my opinion, if they're old enough to join the service and get killed or maimed in Bush's oil war, they're old enough to drink. And if not, then by God, raise the enlistment age to 21. Oh, forgot- can't do that, might lead to a shortage of cannon fodder. My mistake.

8. Not a bad idea at all.
Hmmm. I'll have to think about that one. By the time the kids could drive, they'd be tired of binging and being hungover.

7. "The teens...felt that officers went overboard..."
And these underaged monsters have a say in this situation HOW????

Their parents should all be arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, at the very least.
