is the only historical figure on your list who really deserves to be called "The Great". A man who managed to find it within himself to continually forgive Danish chieftains who had lied to him, betrayed him, and taken advantage of his good nature and magnanimity. When he could as easily have had all of their heads on a platter. How can we not revere and respect a man like that?

18. Hey lookit! As arranged by Google hits...
Peter 12,400,000
Charles 10,900,000
Alexander 5,360,000
Albert 3,180,000
Wall of China 2,480,000
Alfred 2,020,000
Frederick 1,940,000
Gregory 1,930,000
Catherine 1,870,000
Cyrus 582,000
Gatsby 578,000
Darius 213,000
Ali (Greatest) 208,000
Gleason 134,000
Houdini 132,000
Ramses 125,000
Nimbus 91,300
Gretzky 73,200
Santini 53,400
Milenko 13,800
Gazoo 7,210

Mind you, I googled "the great" plus the name, rather than "______ the great," which probably explains why popular given names like Peter, Charles and Wall of China did so well. (That's it! I'm naming my firstborn "Wall of China." S/he'll love it, I'm sure!)

26. Ramses Ramses Ra Ra Ra
Of course, I could just vote for him, but that would rob me of the chance to do the bad Ra/Rah pun.
