Anybody here ever been to Venezuela?
Or is there anyone here that's from there?

I'll break out of the 700 Club if anyone answers this post, if I haven't already!

But that's not why I'm posting. I need the 411 on Venezuela because I want to get there from New Orleans but I don't want to fly and I can't find any cruise lines that go there overtly. Looks like it would be a straight shot, except for Cuba lying directly in the path. Would like to go there by boat. Anyone have any ideas?

1. Check cruise ships from Miami or NY -
with stops in NO or Miami.

It's been a long time - but my parents lived in Venezuela. They traveled exclusively by ship- (pre-Internet, it was a great way for Dad to evade the office). They also vacationed on Aruba and Barbados- which they reached from Venezuela by ship.

Hope this helps.

2. Can't wait to go there, muchas gracias for the info
I'm more than willing to bet there's a boat in NO that goes to Venezuela, even if I have to go steerage!

I am officially an escapee of the 700 Club.

*whew*

3. Bien viaje!
Could I ask why you're so enthusiatic to go there?

I found it beautiful - rain forest - beach, etc. - but otherwise a hostile environment for Americans.

4. FWIW, Venezuela is going to be the next country we attack: see:

A statement released on March 8 and signed by almost 400 Venezuelan journalists accused the US government and media of a campaign to prepare the ground for a US military attack on oil-rich Venezuela.

According to translation of the statement posted at the Venezuela Analysis website, it begins by declaring: “As it was done in the past to Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Grenada, and Haiti, the government of the United States today targets the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with all its media and propaganda power. In those brother nations, such campaigns served as the preamble for an armed invasion by the main global military power.”
