Their customer service is the pits. Try getting them to correct a mistake THEY made. I had to report them to the federal credit card agency to get them to fix one of their errors. And they were rude too.
Amex has poor customer service in my experience also.
Don't laugh, but Citibank has actually been one of the best for me. I've had terrific customer service, and they've fixed any errors I report very quickly. Your mileage may vary. I think it sometimes depends upon what Customer Service Representative assists you, because other people have had complaints.
As far as "low interest" credit cards, I get mailers every week offering zero percent interest to open new credit card accounts. They're everywhere. Can't do better than zero. A "lower line of credit" is not good if you travel. When you make hotel or rental car reservations, or sometimes even in a restaurant, the hotel or rental car agency sometimes puts "holds" on your credit card -- which is just a guess as to how much you might charge and it's usually quite a bit higher than you do end up charging. However, if you have a low limit card, then you are limited in the others thing you can charge on your trip due to the "hold."
There is no reason to have a low limit credit card unless you are undisciplined. You are not responsible for any fraudulent charges made on a Visa or MasterCard labeled card -- these companies have "zero liability" offers. So you are not protecting yourself from anything by having the lower limit card. You are just putting yourself in a situation where you have less choices in event of emergency where you would need to charge something.
NEVER replace a credit card with a debit card, because when you are victim of theft of debit card, you are out the money, sometimes for months, while the theft is being researched. With a credit card, even if you are wrongly charged, you are never out the money, because you send in your statement explaining the incorrect charge...not the money you don't owe.
The only place a debit card is appropriate, in my humble view, is when you need it to get foreign currency from an ATM. This is, alas, the cheapest way to get money overseas, as traveler's checks are a thing of the past and way too expensive now. However, when your debit card is lost or stolen, it is scary how quickly thieves -- especially in Europe where there is a professional class of pickpocket -- can clean out your entire bank account. Therefore I only have my debit card linked to accounts where I keep only the amount of money I will need on a trip -- and NO more.
If you would be afraid to carry that amount of cash in your pocket, you shouldn't have that sum of money in an account that can be accessed by debit card.
The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists and other subversives. We intend to clean them out, even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country. --John Mitchell, US Attorney General 1969-72
